Ok so I am putting together another rig and am ordering the parts I need from Newegg. Well all I need to buy is a Floppy drive, CDRom, and Hard Drive. I want to spend as little as possible so I go with the following:

Maxtor 20.0gb 5400RPM
Panasonic 1.44mb 3.5"
LG 52x CD-rom

Total is $88.00 without shipping so I go and calculate shipping costs for FedEx Express saver. The verdict is: $20.68.

How the hell can it cost $20.68 to ship a Floppy Drive, CDRom and Hard Drive when it only costs ~$15.00 to ship a case?
 
well it will cost me 2-3 times the amount of the z560 speakers cost just to ship them😕

I have, but I can get better prices for the most part at newegg. I wanted to deal with them because I also have to buy a case which is an additional $18 shipping on top of the $20 listed above. I contacted them by email to see if they can't work something out because $20.68 for 3 relatively small items is ridiculus.

u could also try to look for a hd thru hot deals... then post a wtb for the cdrom and floppy. r u looking for a specific case at newegg? maybe u can try to get a case locally. those shippin charges do sound ridiculous. i dislike very much being raped on shipping.
 
I have already run a WTB thread over in FS/FT but the offers made were too much. The case I want is the Chieftec case (same as Antec 1040b) that is onsale at NewEgg. I can not buy anything locally because there is only one local computer shop and they rape you prices, plus I have to pay tax on top of that. They wanted $19 for a damn floppy drive.
 
Newegg drop ships items, which means they don't maintain inventory or actually ship things themselves. Most of the stuff comes from different warehouses and you pay shipping on each item, not just the total weight.

LOL you don't live in Canada do you. If I were to buy someting for $88 usd. it would cost more than that to ship it here. Don't feel too bad.

They have to make a profit somewhere. At $88 for that order, they sure as hell aren't making it on the hardware.
