LS1 V8 BLOWING UP!

That's some crazy stuff! The actual explosion is at the end of the video. I'm guessing there was NOS involved. Either way its such a waste of the LS1...yet it looks pretty cool =)

too much timing on the juice :) hehehe gotta have an msd timing retard module when you jump on the NOS.

They weren't trying to blow it up. They were dynoing it and I guess it burst in flames...and man..those flames were nice...

the dynomometer is the instument used to measure horsepower and torque of internal combustion engines

the guy says "that's what i'm talking about" right after it blows. that, and they zoomed in when they though it was going to explode.

Why couldn't the whole engine blow up, damnit...another dangerous car on the road with the possibility that a engine could blow up....:disgust:

the engine didn't really explode.. something like a nitrous line or something burst into flame. I don't think the engine was rendered useless from that.. perhaps they were trying to do something

Probably a faked video. I don't believe that for an instant. By the way, I have been in a racecar when the engine blew also, so I guess I have some experience with blown motors, unfortunately......:(

Yea. Look like she blew back through the airbox. You could see it blew the airbox up right over the rad. I had a 351C that could backfire through the carb and shoot flames out the cowl induction and up the windshield :Q Kinda freaky to see at night .

no no no nitrous is highly flammible, inject into motor = more horsepower. But if the flame ignites before the valves close (too much timing advance), boom! just a big backfire!

Someone posted a link of a guy whose bottle exploded in his trunk in his garage. Not only did it rip apart his trunk, it took out alot of his garage. I'll see if I can dig up the link.

yeah...that was actually a 3rd Gen Maxima that had the NOS bottle in its trunk blow up. The back end of the car flew thru the garage door out to the driveway. That's some scary stuff...

If it's not flammable - then what good does it do in an engine? I mean, I know what it does - but is NOS only flammable under compression or something?

Nitrous actually is just a delivery device for a Oxygen molecule. The extra oxygen molecule allows the engine to burn more gas making more power. You can't use pure oxygen though, well you could, but you wouldn't get too far :).
