Look at the moon tonight

Is there any rovers on the moon at all? Would be cool if there was a picture of the eclipse from the moon.

Wonder what that would be called? An earth eclipse?

Probably a solar eclipse, as it's basically like the moon going in front of the sun, except it's the earth going in front of the sun.

Would probably look pretty cool actually, would be like a big red ring. Maybe they'd call it a blood Earth. :awe:

I woke up at 5am cest this morning to go to the toilet. I had a quick look since we have a clear sky. Interesting to see, an orange red super moon.

Fun to see that at 24:00 pm cest, 5 hours earlier, the moon was white and extremely bright.

Saw it here earlier tonight. Forgot about it. It was already doing the eclipse stuff when I saw it. Went out just now to go get some groceries and I was like, "Wow, is that the moon lighting the outside here? It's never /that/ bright. Damn that +30% brightness..." I looked up and I was impressed with how bright it was.

That said, I've seen supermoons and such before.

I remember I was living in a small town and I went out to the backyard for a moment in the middle of the night. Must've been 2:00AM and I was just in a bit of a somber but calm mood. Decided to just head out back for some reason, maybe I saw the color difference outside from the kitchen. A very red moon was just hanging out in the sky and the whole region was cast in a dark red tint. Felt very fitting for how I felt at the time.

I sat on my porch & watched Nature's show. Figured since this hasn't happened since 1982 & I have stage IV cancer I might want to have a look

My son who was born in 1987 also watched, hearing his insights was one of the best parts of the experience. I can't remember if I saw the 1982 eclipse but this was sure beautiful. Can you imagine how frightening such events must have been to primitive people's?

We've had a dense, low cloud layer here since Saturday. I couldn't even tell the moon was out because of the reflected city glow.

Saw the entry into totality, but didn't get to see the whole show. The cloud layer took over prior to maximal eclipse. Regardless, I got to see the super blood moon, so I was happy.

At first I thought I missed it because of the clouds, but then I looked up the timing of it and diagrams and determined that I did indeed see it completely covered by the Earth's shadow.

I love how during totality, the Moon has a more three-dimensional look to it; it seems to have more definition that points to the fact that it is in fact a sphere.

When it's blasting reflected sunlight at us, it seems to have more of a flat disc shape.

We had a great view here last night, and I had the same thoughts about the spherical vs flat appearance. It was awesome.

That's what I was thinking. It could have been as recent as the 1700's maybe the 1500's that people could have thought it was a sign from God. Like a Biblical plaque would bestow us all.
