It's not really 10 miles a day. We are taking days off and climbing some mountains. I think that we're doing the last 114 miles in 7 days.
As for food, it's all dried. Healthfood stores have lots of simple ingredients in bulk. Chain supermarkets now also have lots of dehydrated options because of people's preferences for "convenience meals". There are lots of dried pastas, grains, mashed potatoes, and other things. Oddly, in my experience Corn Pasta provides the most energy.
As for the camera. Of course I'm gonig to take lots of pictures! Usually I carry my 4.2 mp Toshiba camera (18oz. w/ 4 batteries) plus a solar charger and four backup batteries (14 oz. ) All of that is too heavy for this trip. I think I'm going to take my mom's little advantix camera, a lot of film, and an extra battery. I'll get them put on CD when I get back.
