It used to look like this for me: (Before)

Now, it looks like this: (After)

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I downloaded all the mods and texture packs, did all the tweaks, etc etc.

Also, most important, I lowered the brightness setting in the in-game video settings, as for some reason it was too bright, washing out most of the shadows. Doing that was one of the most important improvements I made. The brightness wasnt even turned up very high, (only about 25%), but the difference is huge.

If you dont mind the 40 bucks, its worth it just for the forest beauty, but the game is really great. I was so angry about how it looked initially (before), but now that it looks like it does post-tweaking... well, I am thrilled

How are you managing playable framerates at that res with HDR/16xAF and that much grass on a 7800GTX? My 7900GT @ 690/1880 chugs along with that much grass even at 1440x900 . . .

Now it might just be me, but that second pic is way too dark to be able to see much of anything.

It would've helped a lot more to have a direct comparison pic (so a pic of the same area before and after).

I need to play with settings some more as things seem less smooth than when I had my 7800GT (have a 7900GT now). Not sure whats causing it as I have more RAM and the CPU speed is only 100mhz less. Also, I have a sound card now whereas I didn't before.

im a little lost tho why you would compare 2 completely different rendered scenes? makes it difficult if not impossible to tell what's really different..

The darkness issue could be your monitors, its a bit darker in the second pic than it is in "real life on screen"

You can't tell the dramatic difference between the first and second shots? No duplicate is needed, it is outrageous. Put them side by side

I did the grass reduction tweak (it is present in the screenshot though)... I am playing in 12-15fps heaven, but it looks so good I dont care. Its not that jerky except for fighting, which is bad

I'm thoroughly unimpressed. The picture is too dark and definately doesn't look like anything special. You need to come up with a better example than that.

Looks good but I would still use the same part of the game just to show the differences better though.

Interesting.. your monitors must be way darker than mine... its quite clear and gorgeous. I guess that's why having the brightness up on mine made it so washed out

You didn't think of saving the game at one point, taking the screenshot, then applying the tweaks and reloading the save?

No?

(It's too dark)

o_O

So not even slightly playable but looks pretty. Why not just "play" 3dMark?

(too dark to see anything here as well)

Did you use a specific tweek guide, or just random stuff you found around. I'm thinking about finally picking up the game and wondering where to start with all that.

Yeah I agree too, by default the game is a bit too bright and needs to be darkened. Hell, I even installed the darker nights mod because I couldn't stand my nights looking like a slightly gloomier version of day. Still, I think you lowered the brightness a BIT too much in that shot (unless of course that 2nd screenshot was taking during the night).
