Longest you've gone w/o showering (voluntarily)

obligatory George Carlin quote:

You only really need to wash 4 key areas:

Armpits, asshole, crotch, and teeth.

To that - once I spent 2 months in the hospital in traction with 40 lbs of weight hanging from a harness on my shin - (broken hip) - Couldn't get up if I wanted to, went about 2 weeks without bathing of any sort. Was damn glad for the in-bed sponge bath that happened every few days after that. Nice nurses too. Actually showered at about the 6 week point when I was able to get out of bed and off the traction.

When I was a wee lad - about 6 yrs old I would actively avoid the shower for days.... Maybe went a week back then but I doubt it. My mom was pretty good about getting me in there.

W/O showering, 4 weeks. We didn't have showers out in the field in the Army.
W/O bathing of some sort, 1 day.

In Vietnam, sometimes a couple of weeks in the bush. The only washing was the occasional rain...or sometimes water in a helmet...kind of an impromptu spitz bath.
(wash the important stinky parts) 😛

Reminds me of Redd Foxx "YOU GOT TO WASH YA ASS!"

If all you can get is a little bit, get the groin and underarms.

yep.

voluntarily, I've maybe went 3 days without properly showering. Time availability, work to do, practicality, all play into those times when I don't shower daily. Like being busy all day, and have time to shower finally at night, but when going to be exercising in the morning and showering after that... I figure, definitely going to wait. Not showering at night and then again 8 hours later.

During field training (most I've had to do so far), I went about a week without a shower.
Daily though, took baby wipe type things to the groin and underarms, and face since it got so oily from face paint and sweat.

that reminds me, when I broke my femur I had my leg hung up in the gurney for about 3 months. I imagine I had what would be called a nurse bath, but don't really recall much from it. Of course given that I was only in 6th grade at the time, I probably didn't find it as amusing as I would now.

Three days is my record voluntarily, but I did not go outside during that time. I usually skip showering if I do not step outside.

During Katrina, probably about two weeks. Although, I was able to give myself sponge bathes.

yep...and your ass...Of course, there'd be times where a stream or river would suffice for a quick bath..but when you're in indian country...that's a luxury not worth taking.

one great thing about gas water, after isabel everything about staying home sucked for a week, except we could still take showers as often as we wanted.

Water was not restored for about a week. Electricity after two weeks. Our subdivision's septic system requires electricity for the grinder / pumps to operate. No power = no shower or flushing.

next time you're doing a dumbass LMGTFY reply, perhaps you should look up the definition of voluntary.

Last time I checked, fuckwad, the military was voluntary.

About a week, Army field training. Unlike Boomer, when I was deployed we almost always had "showers" of some sort.

not sure, it's done so well it seems to go naturally.

K, rocket scientist, now show me where I used LMGTFY, as you quoted above, in this thread.

well he of slow thoughts, show me where I said you used one in this thread; although I can see how you're confused given your propensity to keep hanging onto that joke that must still give you giggles like the first time you found your dads nudie mags even though it's actually somewhere south of hearing the rich astley notes start in current use.

a week.

had stitches and couldn't get them wet and couldn't figure out a way to shower while protecting the affected area.

While doing geological mapping in the bush in northern Quebec for the provincial government, almost a whole summer without showering. Lake water was too cold for full immersion so we were washing with a cloth, rinsing with a bucket, by the shore every two-three days. Felt real good to hit the shower when the float plane picked us up to spend a few days in a mining town called Chibougamau before returning home.

The flies were murderous. :frown:

Also we did not have a shower in our apartment when I was young. I basically only took baths until I was 21yo, time at which my father bought a house. Hell, my brother and I shared a room and I was sleeping on a sofa until then.

Backpacked for a week a couple times where there are obviously no showers. Man did that shower feel good afterward. I did wash off in rivers with bromers though, so I was only half filthy.

Same here, I've been backpacking on several day trips, but if it's more than two nights I just have to find a lake or stream to clean off in.

camping, maybe 5 days without a shower. At home I might have gone 2 days without a shower.

e: Also... somehow this thread managed to deliver drama

You probably would've gotten funnier responses had you asked this in the official WoW thread in PC Gaming...
