I've woken up with a sore throat for weeks now... although it goes away during the day. Doctor said it might be a sinus infection that was dripping into my throat...

Anyways, its been almost 4+ weeks and I have taken antibiotics twice with no real effect.

Has anyone had anything similar?

my wife had problems like that before she had surgery to "roto-root" her sinus/nasel/throat passages. now she doesn't get those lingering 1-2 month sinus infections anymore

you might want to see an ENT specialist

good luck

yeah, happens to me all the time. When I was in college, I was busy all the time, didnt have time to take some days off to rest and heal. my doctor said the same thing, sinus infection too. Mine would go on for over a month. She prescribed some pills that gave me the runs and weren't all that effective. In the end, time took its course. Dont worry about it, it happens all the time. You just need some time off.

I've had allergy induced sore throats which last for months. With those I just wake up with a sore throat, wait it out for half an hour (didn't want to be taking too much aceta) and it would go away. It sucked but I just kinda became used to it and after a while I didn't really notice it anymore.

4 weeks with bronchitis plus an infection in one of my lungs, thought I was going to die.

Yes, but only about two weeks after I would have gotten the initial infection... so.. who knows?

Two weeks should have been able to rule out mono. See an Otorhinolaryngologist (ear, nose throat) sounds like Rhinosinusitis (official term for sinus inflamation/infection), which may be allergic, viral or bacterial.
Also believe it or not chronic gastroesophageal reflux can lead to chronic sore throat, and often occurs in conjunction with sinusitis and allergies.
