4 months for a computer back in the mid 90s using Best Buy's extended warranty I purchased.
It died on the 16th day after I bought it, and the return period was 15 days. The manager refused to let me exchange it for another one (15 days only!!!!), and they shipped it off to be fixed somewhere. Whenever I called to find out the status of it, I basically was told "Don't know. Call back in a few weeks".
I was pretty pissed as it was the first computer I ever bought, and I paid all that money and had nothing to show for it for almost 1/4 of the year.
