Hi folks, I plan to sell my car soon and there will be a period where I will be without a car, so I am thinking of renting one.

Anyone ever rented a car for like a month? Which rental companies have the best rates for this?

TIA!

My wife's company did this for her back in August. The only car they had available was a 2006 Yukon, and I remember seeing on the slip that it was ~$875 for 30 days. Mileage over 3000 was extra.

Yeah, I'm sure that was the fullsize SUV rate.

I've seen places that rent cars that are more like what you would find on a used car lot. You might want to look into that type of place. It might be a whole lot cheaper. And who cares how nice the car is if you're only going to be using it for a month.

you need to look around and compare different branches of even the same company, because rates are not uniform. often one branch will have a good deal on one car, and not on another. expect to pay $750-$1500 or more.

I would almost be willing to bet money that the $500ish a month you saw did not include taxes or fees. I've looked into longer rentals as well, and was shocked to see almost 400 dollars in taxes on top of most longer rentals.

Yikes... so practically I am looking at the $1000 range to rent a car for a month...

hmm maybe I should postpone selling the car
