Long Island University VS University at Buffalo

i live in NYC and am stuck in between these two colleges as an incoming freshman already visited Univ Buffalo and did not like it very much the campuses are located in very boring areas and the Ellicot complex sucks...

oh yea my intended major is Business

anybody know a good deal about these two Universities that can lead me to the right direction? I felt i would definately go to SUNY Buffalo but now i am skeptic after visiting and i don't know much about LIU (Brooklyn CAMPUS) Both have DIV I Baseball which i will try to participate, feedback on which will team will be easier to join

When I was choosing colleges, I *almost* went to suny buffalo. However, I got some money from Northeastern, and decided to go there. That said, I have a bunch of freinds who go there, and they all think its a wild time, plus its the best suny school (for engineering, at least). Also, their frisbee team is awesome, if youre into that, and theres a kid on the team who can drink a whole disc in 17 seconds (and if you dont believe me, youll hafta go see for yourself ;)).

nah I think binghampton and/or stony brook has that honor.

I didnt get accepted to Buffalo so i could not say... i rather had gone away than staying home.

whoops, youre right, its binghamton, but buffalo is still pretty damn good for a suny school.

Oh, and the OP shouldnt overlook SUNY Albany, #1 Party School in America!!!

(hey, at least we're #1 at something)

yea i heard about that but i never bothered going past completeting fafsa for them. they are done for the 2005-2006 undergrad too

are you sure? most of my friends said its boring before i actually visited. Then when i was there i saw what they meant... i heard that SUNY Buffalo is in Amhearst or something? WTF? When i had the time, i went to the South campus and part of it looked like the projects of NYC i went there thinking that's where downtown Buffalo was...i haven't seen Downtown Buffalo, but so far there is not enough stores near the campuses to buy from a variety of stores like in NYC

just expect it to be freezing cold in buffalo !!! 10-20+ inches of snow at a time..

plus side.. good stripper clubs in canada !!!

OP, for selling ourselve to NYC companies when you graduate, BUFF has better rep. for business than LIU... now, if your GPA is crap guess it doesn't matter.

LIU campus in bklyn... yawn.. though the area is a heck of a lot better than it was in the 90's. Inside the building, yawn... old too unless they renovated it the last 8yrs i don't know.

I say you get more of the college yrs experience if you can go away and be near campus, like off campus housing...

if u intend on doing PT, nursing, pharmacy, PA, or any other health sciences, LIU is not bad. But for business, i would go to buff.

yeah i recognized that too from LIU particularly their Brooklyn campus too much focus on pharmacy..


well how about their baseball teams which of the two can i most likely make?

i went to UB for comp sci and business. don't regret it and 4.5 years outta nyc did me good.

strip clubs in canada...dayum!! :D

probl is I think BU is pretty good for the medical stuff too... except Pharm.

hmm so u went to UB so u can be close to Canada to head for the clubs huh?


COllege life is weird... you don't have money but you get to do all those 'young' things....
After college you get financial freedom, but you can't go back to campus to have those same parties... shame.

I go to suny buffalo. I am in amherst atm, 4 miles from campus.

ub is not as bad as you think. just come here and experience it. always stay away from home! it is only 7 hours driving or 1 hours flying to nyc. yea, we are close to toronto(120 miles). they have the BEST chinese food you can get in the entire east coast. if you need your way around ub, you can pm me. rh71 was graduated in here too.

buffalo is not freezing cold, we just have alot of snow. we are alot warmer than those guy in central new york(binghamton, syracuse, ithaca, etc...). we will spend most of your time indoor anyways.

if you are in business, don't forget to join my franternity, AKPsi. :)
