Long distance carriers

I haven't been carrying long distance service on my home line because it was free on my cell phone. Recently I have scaled back my plan on the cell phone and so did my long distance. I can still call any where in the state (KY) for free but not out of state. This amounts to about 6 buck a month in cell phone charges a month @ .20 a minute - my wife?s dad is out of state. Does anyone out there have a carrier that they like and that is cheap? I am preferably looking for one that is cheap and doesn't have much of - if any - monthly fee.

Thanks

KD

Qwest - $.05 a minute, capped at $20 a month. Never pay more than $20 a month for LD.

That is a good no hassle deal but I'm not sure if KY is in Qwest's territory.

I would recommend BigZoo.com at 2.9 cents/min. I've been using them for domestic and internet long distance for over 2 years now.

Sprint sent me an offer for complete home service; local and ld, caller id, etc. for $50. Unlimited calling to all of the US and Canada. Sounds pretty good to me tho you'd have to make a lot of calls to make it a deal IMHO.

I found this. It is from Telarus communications. It has 3.5 cents/min state to state and 3.34 inside state (intrastate isn't that big a deal to me, but at 3.34 cents/min I can afford to make a call or two). It also only has a 1.99 monthly fee, it is waved if your bill is over 20.00 or if you sign up for the auto bill payment.

Thanks.

I use onesuite.com Long distance costs 2.5 cents a minute using local access or 2.9 cents a minute using toll free number. There is no connection charge or monthly maintenance fee. You can also fill $10 at a time. I don't think the balance can expire, but I might be wrong.

Ditto
I've been using BigZoo since 2000 and love it. Great prices anywhere in the US and pretty cheap to many international places. 2.9 from local and 3.9 cents/minute if you dont' have a local number near you.

So my understanding is that Bigzoo.com is a calling card? I read around their website and that was the jest of what I got. If this is incorrect let me know, because I would prefer to pay another 1 cent a minute and not have to deal with locating the card and then dialing through a menu. I will be using this no more than 30-40 mins a month, and that is only 3-4 dollars a year not to have to deal with the card.

Thanks for the suggestions.

BigZoo.com is a virtual calling card.

Here's how it works:

1) Go to BigZoo.com and sign up for $10 calling card (5 hours 44 minutes)
2) After you have signed up, login to your account and activate your PINSkip.
3) You're done.
4) Now let's try placing a call. Find a local access number, call it, assuming your caller ID isn't blocked it should recognize who you are ... tell you what your balance is and ask what phone number you want to dial.

PINSkip uses caller ID to identify who you are, so you don't have to enter in your calling card number.
