What are you going to do if you need to use the toilet? Are you bringing a shovel as well?

😀

I just might... 😉 I don't have to bury pee in the desert though, do I?

Nope, but it would be irresponsible of you if you don't bury your #2 >.<

wow did you seriously say bear spray?

I watch tv. I've seen the bears attack people's cars.

Yeah, I've had to dodge of few of those 70mph freeway bears myself. Good thing I'd filled my windshield washer reservoir with bear spray!

Well, I guess I could go wardriving and keep you guys updated.. but that's illegal. You'll have to wait till I get back I guess. 🙂

I'm not sure if you noticed, but there are a whole lot of wifi hotspots around the country in countless chain fast food establishments. and ii'm pretty sure it's perfectly legal to use their internet access to keep us up to date

also, get satellite radio.... i've had XM for about a year and a half now and it's invaluable on a roadtrip, and better yet, all the music channels are commercial free.

just bring money for gas and food

and maybe a map

a road trip is not an "outdoor adventure"

have you ever been out of the house before?

No I've never been out of the house before!

I don't have alot of money to spend on hotels. That's why it's going to be outdoor.

Dude.

Drive to residential zone of whatever city is nearby
Cruise for unsecured wireless
...
Profit!

If you're willing to speed on a roadtrip, why aren't you willing to wardrive?

Sounds like you would be better off flying. 🙂 Anyone else going with you? Make sure to have some pocket change incase you run into any toll booths.

I thought about that. Flying and renting a car were close to the same cost. (under 25) We decided to invest a smaller sum into a tuneup, etc.. for one of our cars and take that.

Gas is still going to be a couple hundred.

"You're not allowed to park here sir!"

"Is this not... a... reasonable place to park?"

Take a digital camera and dump it to the lappy as needed.

Depending on how much sighseeing you are doing figure 3 days without stressing yourself.

"Was definitely going to do that." 🙂

We're figuring 12 hours the first day, 8 hours the next, and the last 4 into AZ. I think with enough coffee, the first day will be cake.

Two 12's are cake. Especially if you have more than one person. I did the 1800 miles from eastern Iowa to Phoenix by myself in 2 days without issue. And I wasn't even really pushing it that hard speed wise. I did a 10 hour and a 13 hour day with enough stops to allow me to get out and stretch my legs and get some fresh air.

Didnt read thru, but XM radio (or any satellite radio, for that matter) is a godsend. Kept me sane in the rental Buick from Boston to Miami and back.
