While I think sometimes police can do sometimes very wrong things, generally the police in the US are 'in the right'. And it's gotten a lot better than it used to be.

The officer returned fire with his Heckler & Koch MP5 sub-machine gun - blasting dad-of-five Duggan twice in the face before slumping to the ground.

How did that happen? I thought gun control stopped gun violence.

No that's just right wing assholes who say that to try and distract from the severely reduced per capita rates of gun violence where gun control exists. See if they discussed it honestly they might not have anything at all to say.

So much fail, so few words. Reduction in "gun crime" is not a reduction in violent crime, assaults, rapes, or murders, of course that's in foreign countries, in America the meccas of gun control are also the centers of high crime and violence, of course when that's brought up someone cries correlation =/= causation.

So I guess by that failed logic the difference in rates of each would be similar, and yet, gun violence rates show a massive discrepancy.

Gun crimes fall under violent crimes. If you've instituted insanely tight gun control standards and gun crimes decrease, but violent crimes stay the same, you've done nothing except encourage the offenders to use a different weapon. Yet again proving that tight gun controls do very little to help the actual issue: violent crimes.

Hah, just read on Facebook that my friend has just driven through there without realising there was a riot... Whoops.

If the gun grabbers were honest, well, there wouldn't be any gun grabbers.

Not likely, the area is so run down and poor I doubt there is much Internet service.

Pretty much the way the U.S. is heading too.

The reason I asked is it typical of some forum members to use events in other parts of the world to further their social and political agendas without actually having first hand experience with the issues.

My friend drove through it all yesterday, he said there were loads of police but not much was happening.

Did you RTFA?

Did you look up the history of that area?

There are even songs written about it.
