Does anybody know a nice and inexpensive hotel in London ?
By inexpensive, I mean something like £30 a night...

Depends when you are coming. If you're coming in the summer, or during University vacations then you can stay at student halls for less than 30pounds per day in a private room with shared facilities.

Otherwise try calling some of the places listed here:

There are several cheapish places in Russel Square, Gloucester Road and Earls Court, all popular with backpackers, but since I live here I have never stayed in any of them.

I tried one in Earl's Court a few years ago (The Chelsea Hotel), it was abnormally cheap (£12 a night !) but I quickly understood why...
It was really dirty, I had a broken window in my room, they were unfriendly and even the seats at Waterloo station were probably more comfortable...
