Wow looks impressive.

Updated: Samsung came clean with the pricing at its press conference this morning. The WiFi 10.1 will hit on June 8th -- the 16GB version will cost you $499 and the 32GB $599. The 8.9 is $469 and $569 for 16GB and 32GB, respectively.

No USB ports. Bummer. Still waiting on the Asus Transformer which should be fully loaded and have a IPS screen to boot.

Netflix is the one thing keeping me from getting an Android Tablet. My birthday is next month and I am going to treat myself to a tablet. Netflix on the go appeals to me a lot, not having it on Android is really steering me towards a iPad. I use an Android phone everyday so staying in that ecosystem is appealing but not without Netflix.

The 8.9" looks nice. And impressive how fast they turned around the 10.1" redesign.

That's the one I am looking forward to. Typing on touch screen sucks, and I like BSing on AT too much :)

That 8.9in model looks pretty sleek. 8.9in, 1280x800 display, wifi only, yum.

Has it been confirmed that these are Tegra 2 based, or will Samsung be using their Hummingbirds again?

Definitely DC. Unknown processor -- could be Exynos, though that would add the time to get Honeycomb working on a new platform.

It's impressive how quickly they reworked the device to be thinner than iPad. That's 20 days if anyone is counting.

Samsung placed a large order for Tegra 2 chips at the end of 2010.

Both the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 have Samsung's new PLS displays which are superior to IPS. They are both 1280x800 too so the Pixel density on the 8.9 model is just about the best we have seen on a tablet.

It should be the Exynos. 1ghz dual-core CortexA9 with Mali400 GPU.

Overall performance is middle of the pack for Cortex A9 SoCs. Not as awesome as the Tegra2 in the LG Optimus 2x, but pretty good overall.

That looks like it would be a pretty nice tablet. Overall about the same performance as the Xoom, I'd reckon, and looks to be cheaper.

That's using pre release drivers that could have negatively impacted performance. If some of Samsungs earlier claims regarding Exynos' performance are accurate it should destroy Tegra 2 and be competitive with A5.

8.9 inch version interests me. I don't mind Touchwiz as I like it. I do agree it's shade expensive but it would've been worse if not for Apple. Not having Netflix on Android is worse than Apple not having Flash.

5% spread if anything and remember its all about drivers. There are benches showing Snapdragon killing OMAP 3440 or whatever the Droid 2 has, but thats just because Linpack seems to favor Snapdragon 8200, but at the same time they're roughly equal with OMAP clock for clock slightly better.

So I'm pretty sure most of those are really equivalent and if anything that showed more of software optimization over anything else.

The 8.9 is still a shade too expensive. Should be $399 for the wifi and $449 for the 4g 16gb versions..

None of the manufacturers are in a hurry to start a race-to-the-bottom price war. They all saw how well that panned out with netbooks and no one is in a hurry to get back to that point. Sure you might sell over twice as many tablets, but the margins will be so thin it turns out to be far less profitable.

I wasn't really implying that's the way things stack up because of hardware differences. I just looked at my post and saw that could be inferred from what I wrote.. my bad. :)

Yeah, what is currently shown performance wise, I would say is basically the lowest limit of hardware performance from a given SoC; it can only improve as the software is able to more efficiently utilize the hardware.

The thing I am most curious to learn: is there any documented and accurate comparisons between the Mali400, the SGX540, SGX543MP2, and the GPU in the Tegra 2 T20 and/or T25?
