lol Trump sanctuary city order blocked

U.S. judge blocks Trump order threatening funds for 'sanctuary' cities - Los Angeles Times

I am shocked small govt Republicans want to block localities from enforcing their 10th amendment rights not to mention the 14th amendment constitutionally protected rights of illegal immigrants....ok not shocked.

What??????

The DOJ should start arresting people then for failure to comply with the law and aiding illegal aliens.

I'm curious if any of these degenerates have ever been negatively affected in life by illegal aliens or muslims or other lower class browns they seek to lord it over.

I am enjoying the way States' Rights advocates have been squirming lately. States' Rights have traditionally been a tool of oppression, a Jim Crow fave.

Disgruntled rust belters need somebody to blame for their woes so jerb stealin' illegals in California take their wrath... I hope I'm not the only person who can't find any sense in that.

They were huge fans of the 10th amendment until sometime in the middle of January this year. I have no idea what changed.

They got set back on their heels in 2013 when Obama turned it around on them over Marijuana legalization. Could have pushed them over with a feather.

I thought immigration was under the Federal government. Didn't AZ get smacked for trying to meddle with immigration a few years back?

Following the law = authoritarian? Wow! Glad to know. Bubble much?
There is no law that says that you have to turn someone in to the government over a misdemeanor or be charged with a crime yourself. That you seem to believe that there should be is what makes you an authoritarian. And for obvious reasons.

You completely missed his point, and it is precisely because immigration is solely under federal jurisdiction that Trump's attacks on 'sanctuary cities' are failing legally and will continue to fail legally.

it is, and you are supporting the federal government using all levels of local police to do their job.

what do you think all the law enforcement officers in the states that have legalized marijuana should do?

Exactly. States are under no compulsion & have no jurisdiction to enforce federal law. If the Feds want to apprehend immigration violators in sanctuary cities they have to do it themselves.

“The Constitution vests the spending powers in Congress, not the president, so the order cannot constitutionally place new conditions on federal funds,” Orrick wrote.

Well maybe congress will act and place new conditions on federal funds.

Its the obamacare catch 22

As much as I love seeing yet an other federal judge kick Trump in his tiny balls...on this one, I actually agree with him. (at least sort of)

Sanctuary cities who refuse to help enforce federal immigration law SHOULD lose any/all federal funding. Of course, as was mentioned above...that could open a can of worms on the marijuana issue in states that have legalized pot...BUT, in spite of the "sanctuary city/state" declaration from some cities/states, AFAIK, none of them have actually passed laws legalizing illegal immigration.

Cops busting down the door to a dispensary and taking out the illegals but not taking the marijuana; that'd be some shit.

I'm not keen on illegal aliens, but Trumps methods of problem-solving are just plain stupid. The guy really needs to be booted out of office soon. I'm hoping he doesnt even do one full year as president.
