i got bored this morning so i went through my spam and forwarded it all to root@originating_mail_server cc to mailer_daemon@originating_mail_server along with a 2.1 meg pdf attachment explaining how to use my answering machine. So far they've all accepted the messages...I wonder what would happen if everyone started doing this...
 
I see all 'rolling eyes' smileys and yes this is a stupid thread but nevertheless, I've only got 3 spams since the last post in this thread.
I have no idea what happened but I like it.

If a "spammer" happens to operate out of his own domain, a method similar to this would work. BUT, very rarely do they do this, and port scanners don't exactly equal spammers (Thogh sometimes they will, hunting for open relays)
 
But if you get that info to the abuse@(ISP_NAME), along with time of the scans, they can (and will) look that info up and put an end to it. It's quite often an abuse of their AUP/TOS and most of the (with the exception of Comcast) will put an end to it.
