I was just out walking in the city here in Philly. This dude pulls into a parking spot out on Chesnut. He gets out the SUV and he looks around real shifty like. Then he takes out a parking violation envelope and sticks it on his windshield, lol. Then he looks at me and cracks a smile while he is walking away to handle his business. hehehehehehehehe

Would be hilarious if a parking enforcement officer had a clue and read the ticket, and gave him a second one.

I've actually done this before. Works pretty well, but just because there is a ticket there doesn't mean they won't give you another.

I've never lived anywhere that they'd hesitate to issue a second ticket a short time after issuing the first one.

Yeah I've thought about doing that before. I usually destroy those envelopes from rage though...

I am curious why anyone would think such an obvious ploy is not known by parking enforcement? If you have done this, and not received a ticket, I highly doubt it is because you fooled anyone. You simply had good luck.

Parking enforcement people aren't the brightest bunch around here. I am sure in larger cities they hire more assertive people. Parking enforcement here is just a bunch of dumb goons that drive around, read meters, and sneak off to do drugs. Hell, I've been parking at the same BROKEN meter for the past two months. It has been stuck on six hours and they still haven't fixed it (analog meter). Free parking FTW.

Depends who is doing the rounds. If they are hardcore about parking, they will actually look at the ticket then give you another one. If they don't care too much, they might pass by your car because you already have a ticket.

I've worked in "parking enforcement" at UCD and usually look at the ticket contents to see if it's for the same day/time and car. Those actually attract more attention, IMO.

I've tried it and it didn't work, but I guess it's going to depend on the city.

if the parking ticket guy doesn't remember ticketing my car that day, he's probably going to check the ticket and issue a second one in case it's the second day in a row that the car has been there.

How is this best?

You'd get your ass handed in NYC. You get double, triple tickets easily. This is true when I lived in Boston too.

If someone is doing the rounds in a designated area, he knows whom he has ticketed. It's obvious when he sees a car with a ticket that he hasn't done it himself.

Fail all around really.

i like his bravado, but the super-sheisty nature of meter maids prevents such a thing from working. they want their money and they will have it. the best revenge ive found is to get a paid parking spot then yelling foul things at them in passing if you see them issuing a ticket or blocking traffic in their little golf carts.

That shit will probably get you jail time in US.
it's funny, but yeah... cops generally know where parking is/isn't legal in their cities. a solitary spot amidst an entire "no parking any time" block isn't going to fool anyone.
