Texas cities generally go blue. It's the rural areas that go red. For example Houston's last mayor was an open lesbian. This year Hillary will carry Houston by about 10 points.

Most of those never bothered to get their citizenship until now. I know of 22 people on my block alone who became citizens (were green card holders before) but they are now citizens and plan to vote for Hillary just because they feel threatened by the anti-immigration sentiment.

Its not just 1 demographic like latino.. they're chinese, vietnamese, filipino, sikh and El Salvadorean. All speak different languages, but they're united against Trump.

I don't think one of them has ever been polled/ surveyed.. they're too busy working minimum wage.

It can't just be my neighborhood. it has to be others as well.
According to the google machine, ~15% of the country are currently immigrants. So Trump basically just tossed away 15% of the vote to Hillary right there. Even if the GOP stance is to keep immigrants out... why anybody would go on record saying they are going to go around just booting out all the "illegals" is pretty dumb. I don't think any Repub. has ever wont he majority of the minority vote, but when your stance to prove you are for Latinos is "I like tacos!", I think you've got a problem...

Trump is still just 6 pts up in the biggest Republican electoral vote stronghold in the country, and down ballot looks to be a concern. HRC will never win Texas this election but still amazing nonetheless.

I doubt that Texas will vote for Hillary this year. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Texas ends up voting Democrat within the next 5 to 6 years or so. Austin isn't the only blue city in Texas. Even San Antonio, Houston, and probably Dallas may go Democrat within the next few years. Outside of the big cities, however, the rest of the state will remain as red as possible.

Houston did elect a mayor who is an open lesbian. Annise Parker isn't the current mayor anymore, but it does show that Houston won't stay red forever. Also, not everybody in Texas is a fan of Trump, but they're also not fans of Hillary either.

Yeah, agreed on those points. But if there ever were a giant red flag to watch out for, it would be Texas being within single digits in 2016. Imagine strongholds like NY or CA being within 6 pts. Just a disaster waiting to happen for Dems if that were ever the trendline.

Hillary won't win Texas, but it's interesting to watch. Just look at Colorado, Virginia, and North Carolina.
With GOP becoming a party of bitter losers, there is an opening for Democrats to take the optimistic message nationwide.
