Hahah I  Rachel Ray! I don't really find girls that are too skinny very attractive...I'd rather have slightly overweight than slightly underweight.

Rachel Ray represents every thing that is wrong with the Food Network . They are starting to fire the chefs, and renewing her, and others such as Lee whats-her-face b/c people don't want to learn how to cook anymore. It's ridiculous. You know that Rachel Ray's only expereince before the food network was working a perfume counter? WTF?!

She's not even that attractive...unles you're into midwestern Bears-fan type chicks that will yap in your ear all night long....hehe. ;)

ah...sandra lee.. hat's the other #### i was trying to remember. how can you put her above Giada? Giada actually has cooking experience, and she knows what she's talking about!

Sandra cooks out of cans....SHE FREAKING COOKS OUT OF CANS!!! These are not cooking shows. She makes a drink, gets liqoured up, then combines cans into a pot. WTF? No one needs to watch a cooking show to tell them how to do something that they can figure out on their own. Ridiculous.

Plus...Giada is really, really hot. Maybe too bubbly, but damn....
Sandra is indistinguishable from Suburban Soccer Mom, exhibits A-ZZZ999

Just a good, slightly plump, CUTE CUTE CUTE woman. Not everyone can be a size 1 or 2 and I'm glad for it. My GF is a 6 and me likey a lot :D
We may disagree on automotive styling, but I cannot find anything that I disagree with in your opinions on women. :)

It's disturbing how few people seem to understand that just because someone's not rail-thin it doesn't make that person fat. Miss Ray reminds me a lot of the "farmer's daughter" sort of girls that I grew up with. This is not at all a bad thing. ;)

all you people sayin she's not hot must be the same people who like the size -4 supermodels who look like they haven't been fed in a year. I like them with a little meat. to quote brian griffin " I don't care what she looks like, I would wreck that chick."

Agreed +1, and remember kids, never trust a skinny cook. :)

And I would marry Rachel Ray in a heartbeat. She is so cute, and she can cook...++

seriously.

Not to mention that she's wealthy, and obviously a moaner :)

Mmmmmmmmm :D

I'll third that. The way her eyes go all big as she swoons over some new taste sensation is incredibly annoying in a food show, but would be just fine in other situations.

I trust skinny cooks though. Given the choice between having Rachel Ray or Anthony Bourdain cook me dinner, I'd take the skinny jerk, because he has technique, imagination and a palate - the 3 ingredients of all good chefs.

I find RR is the archetype of the new Food Network. All about personality and little about technique and imagination. heck, even Emeril, for all his hamming for the camera, showed people how to cook real food. So much of what's on now is just crap. I only really watch Good Eats and Iron Chef America these days. Everything else is either a soap opera or a bunch of montages of people eating with their styling friends. Where's the cooking?

Well that's the thing...I don't cook, I don't like to cook, but I love watching the Food Network. I watch it for the personality, and I think people like Rachel Ray, Bobby Flay, and Alton Brown define the channel. If you want to learn how to cook, get a cookbook. If you want to just relax and watch TV about food, the Food Network is where it's at.

I don't understand why, even though she might be a little annoying, anyone would hate her. She's very successful and has pretty much a dream job. (also attractive... success is always kind of sexy!)

I'm happy for her. :)

It has to be her success that makes people not like her. The over-exposure. Otherwise, what's not to like INITIALLY about a girl who's cute, can cook, is educated and has tons of money? Sure, maybe if you actually dated her for a while you may not like her, but some of these responses are plain silly.

Then again, reality hasn't set in for most folks on here, so I suppose I can see why some of these responses are the way they are.

What's not to like is, as soon as she opens her mouth I feel like I am being tied to a cotton candy cart in preparation for ritual sacrifice by several dozen mouseketeers on a sugar bender.

She's annoying. Not merely annoying, but intensely annoying. Like the girl in high school who is sort of cute, but wants to be everyone's friend, and thinks she is. She is annoying in the way of people who get so excited! by completely mundane things, and cannot shut up about them. Annoying like those activity-director types who try to drag you away from the bar at a wedding of someone you barely know to join the Macarena, and as they are tugging on your arm, completely fail to notice that you are not interested and are not dancing. To use a familiar reference - she is the lady in Office Space who says as you are walking in "Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays!"

That said, all those who are ripping on her for being fat are just OTL.

I agree. Her smile is nice, but also terrifying.

Just to clear things up: I'm not criticizing R. Ray or S. Lee based on their looks. They are both fine women whom I would not kick out of bed, and probably drag back in for seconds....I criticize them based on their merits. Neither of them is a cook. They don't deserve shows on the food network b/c there is nothing of substance in what they do.

I don't think Giada is a professionaly trained chef, but she does have ample experience as a personal chef. Rachel Ray was a perfume stooge. As for Sandra...my guess is martini-swilling soccer mom.

There was a good article a month or 2 ago in The New Yorker about the bastardization of the Food Network. I already had my opinion of these gals before then; but the article gave my then-baseless accusations some solid ground.
