Congrats on investing into a graphics card to have the worst experience possible until the end of last october.
Congrats on having useless multiple GPUs.
congrats on experiencing frame latency until very recently on single cards.
Congrats on buying video cards from a company that re released their two highest video cards to compete.
Congrats on having terrible driver support.

If the money is all that matters to you, i think you're doing the wrong hobby.

Don't confuse luck with skill. If you were truly skilled you would have bought BTC instead of mining it. What was it, like $3 a little over a year ago. Buying $1100 for a pair of 7970s would not get you anywhere near the profit you would have made by buying $1100 worth of BTC a little over a year ago (which would be over $50k). The profit made from direct buying and selling is an order of magnitude higher than with mining, especially once you factor electric prices, depreciation, resale transactional costs, and wear and tear on your equipment.

P.S. OP is deliberately trolling. He even stated "not to troll" so he knew this was going to come across as trolling, and he did it anyway to stir up trouble.

Bitcoin mining should be treated as a plus for buying an AMD GPU, you shouldn't buy a bunch of AMD GPUs just for that unless you were planning on getting them anyway.

I used to do it a bit back in 2011 on my old 5850 and I made about $70 over the course of 3 weeks. The reason Bitcoin mining is attractive again is because the prices are really really high right now. Actually I could throw my old card in my PC as long as the drivers for my GTX 680 don't try fighting it.

I would make about the same amount of money as I did two years ago with the same card. The Bitcoin market is kind of crazy right now.

There is always some weirdo crap like this in the world. I wonder what the next one is. Doesn't seem weird to anyone else that people make money doing useless crap?

I just looked up what a bitcoin is used for and this is what I found "

An obscure digital currency – used mostly for running drugs and laundering money for dictators
"

I feel sorry for these people who bought a AMD video card to get bitcoins, so many games out there that people use video cards that you can't do with that card...

ps: Who cares about bitcoins..not me.

You guys are hilarious. In Jan 2012 I bought 2 7970's and then realized they f*cking sucked in SLi with eyefinty so I decided to Bitcoin mine on them instead. I've earned overt 300 BTC since then and am very happy that BTC is worth what is today.

For all you jokers who think BTC is a fad, it's in fact not a fad and will challenge the status quo of cyclical consumption and fractional reserve currencies that we have the displeasure of dealing with today. Get with the times, even if BTC fails something else like it will replace it. The fact is, I got lucky and admit it, I just find it funny that buying "inferior hardware" has paid for itself and with driver improvements has proven to be at least equal to what the latest NVidia hardware has released.

So, to wrap this up.. You were silly and spent $1200 on two 7970s, figured out they sucked at gaming, so now you don't game but instead make trinket money.

Did I hit all the key points?

OP, you somehow bring the level of these forums down even lower. Surprised this thread hasn't been closed. The title alone is provocative.

P.S. I am a happy 7970 owner (and yes, the OP is still an embarrassment).

Hrm...if you say so.

If I was unhappy with hardware I'd replace it with hardware I would be happy with. Bitcoin mining is a fad and virtual currency isn't going to make you an overnight millionaire so...yeah.

No wonder they sucked, you were running them in SLI mode rather than CrossFire, that would be the root of your problems I believe. Hope that helped! :whiste:

lol...i didn't even catch that one.

$3k isn't that much cash either really. It sounds like a lot in one lump sum, like if you had a wad of $100 bills it might seem like a lot but it disappears quicker than you can believe so in today's world it's nothing. Sucks to say that but when $3k won't even pay my property taxes, it feels like small potatoes.

I pay 0.75 cents per KW but even at California rates its still profitable to mine at today's difficulty vs $ per BTC.

For the others who think BTC is still a fad, do some research it may surprise you.

Holy jesus, 75 cents a kwh?

Don't you guys get usage tiers? Isn't that increasing the cost to operate your home as well?

Again, virtual money will never make you rich and it surely isn't going to allow you to retire early comfortably.

Sorry I pay 0.075 cents per KW.

You mean .075 DOLLARS per kW, unless you own a nuclear power plant.

But to wrap this up, for some of us it's chump change, so we really couldn't be bothered to use our GPUs to warm up the room.
