Anyone notice a trend with ATOT trash talking something and the more popular/successful it gets... e.g. Kanye, Bieber and facebook...

Have you noticed that those three things you listed are fucking terrible regardless of their popularity???

Kanye's lyrics are getting worse while his music is getting better.

I don't like his music that much anymore, though I do sometimes still listen to Graduation Day, 808s and Heartbreak, and a few tracks off his older albums.

He should have either taken vocal lessons and sang on 808, or just collaborated with vocalists, because there are some really good songs on there (like Amazing) that are just ruined by the auto-tune.

i actually agree with this. college dropout/late registration had much more content in terms of storytelling, whereas dark twisted fantasy's beats are just miles ahead of anything out there.

atot isnt mainstream, so its typical to hate on anything that is

Kanye is awesome, I love his new album. I agree that his lyrical content isn't as strong as his first few releases, but it still beats most mainstream rappers (shit like Chingy).

Remember, most of ATOT genuinely believes they look good in Wrangler jeans, so of course they're gonna hate on stuff (everything).

ATOT trash talks about things that are already popular and growing in popularity. It's not just ATOT, either, it's other sites, media, and regular water cooler talk.

And there are always people defending the other side. Not Bieber, though, he's terrible 😛

i raise you with this good one from way back

Love that song. Half of what made it is the sampling of the Shirley Bassey song and collaborating with Jay. Still great lyrics and flow by Kanye, though.

I think what Kanye lacks is consistency. He does have a few good songs on every album thus far. So far the only song I have listened to repeatedly on his new album is "Power". I need to give the rest of his songs a shot over time.

EDIT: Just realized the album is $3.99 on Amazon (mp3). I think it's probably worth at least that much; downloading it now.

Pitchfork gave Kayne's new album a perfect score, making it the first non-reissue album to receive a score of 10 since 2002.

I’m really enjoying this album, but then again I’m already a fan of West. I wasn’t too sure of it the first listen through but on my repeat visit, it quickly grew on me.

“All of the Lights” I would have to say is my favorite track(s) off the record. (Track 4 and 5)
“Runaway” is also great, one of those songs you can get lost in.
“Blame Game” is also really good.

The album isn’t without its faults. I’m just not feeling “Monster”, its sad when I have to say that Nicki Minaj’s portion is the best part of the song. Jay’s lyrics on this track are almost embarrassing…..

I think Kanye picked a great title for the album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. If you listen to it from start to finish in one sitting,… you can feel,….. you can feel what he was trying accomplish here.

Anyways, as someone else mentioned you can download the record on Amazon.com for $3.99 right now, using the coupon code GET3MP3S you score $3.00 off. Making it only 99 cents. But I know that still might too much for some people to pay for it,……

lol, Monster is one of the best songs on there only because Kanye sucks so much that he needs Nicki (and even Jay-Z) to pull his weight.

Yea, I get all my stuff from Amazon for $3.99 these days. Amazon > All. :awe:

I wonder who's actually buying his music though. I honestly have never met a single person that likes him. It's a paradox!

Teenage children who think record sales and reviews by shitty websites/magazine are meaningful and buy into the hype that his music is great.

I like how someone points out that he had about 30 other musicians play on the album and 10 other producers. It's a mashup of other peoples ideas and writing/beats. His music cant stand on his own and he needs those people to make it seem good and sell albums.

And someone points to lyrics that use Oscar Mayer. Are you serious? Those are good lyrics?

I've never met anyone who owned a Michael Jackson record either, but that's pop music for you.

Seeing Kanye's lyrics, I think his audience can be broken down into two buckets:

1) Suburban white kids who hear lyrics about Islam, etc and think they're deep, mystical, and contrary to the white-bred culture they are trapped in.

2) People who like to shake their ass.

LOL- Everyone I know over 35 owned Thriller. After that...not so much.

I never liked him at all and think he's an arrogant douche, but tried to give him a chance and listen to this album.

I hated every single song on the album.

Never again.

he doesn't speak much about islam really...if these suburban white kids were looking for that then they should be listening to jedi mind tricks or even gangstarr

Sorry dude, I love the album...and I think reviews hold a little bit more weight than your "review."

As Jay-Z said "Men lie, women lie, numbers don't."

We can go back and forth all day whether Kanye's album is good or not but at the end of the day, the only objective yardstick is record sales.
