lol, mac guy gets sacked

Durr.... he's a fairly well-known actor. Somehow I doubt them deciding to go a different way with the commercials equates to either pwnage for him or even the concept of him being "sacked."

When apple is confident enough to actually try to compete with Windows, we can talk. Otherwise, apple sucks.

No, they make a good OS, and a good computer, but the incompatibility with standard hardware, and their enormous price tag, are WAY more than enough for me to stick with Windows.

Mac Guy should've been a girl in the first place--wot with all that graphic designer stuff they got goin on. I'm thinking...a cross between Anne Hathaway and Claire Forlani (yeah, that's kinda hard to picture...I'm not helping!)

You know what's funny...when those ads first appeared I immediately recognized PC guy from his sketches on The Daily Show/Colbert Report. I didn't realize Mac guy was the same Justin Long who plays scrawny dweeb guy in "Dodgeball", "Accepted", etc.

Sounds like an accurate description of most Mac people.

I don't know any Mac people personally, so I can't comment on that, but I agree that the commercials are very smug and pretentious.

err.. didn't he only agree to a set of commercials.. and not want to do anymore?

Enormous? That's a bit of a blanket statement. But I agree for the most part you're paying a premium. Some items are a decent deal for a good number of poeple.

What standard hardware are you talking about? I'm honestly curious.

why would he type cast himself as the "mac guy" for the rest of his career?
I am sure it was something that was mutually agreed on. As others have said, he is a movie actor, not just commericals.

The PC Guy on there... i don't think i have ever seen him in anything else.

oh one of my coworkers is mac guy. he's smug as hell. always puts down windows and PC. One time he was explaining to a female coworker the many ways a mac is better. I ran by his cube yelling "mac sucks" as a joke. Man did his face get red! You could tell he was holding back blurting stuff out at my face that would get him in trouble with the HR

it was quite fun. But he's a nice guy overall. very helpful

OSX is much better than Windows

If I could run it on my PC I would in an instant

Microsoft products are clunky, painfully designed, and a terrible user experience from start to finish in comparison to mac software

At the end of the day, Mac guy was smug, and smug is not cool or popular. Smug gets punched in the face, or, like today, fired.

Couldn't have set it better. thats what i always wanted to do. I don't hate macs, i just hate the mac commercials. well, the old mac commercials.

Actually OSX is designed for people too dumb to figure out windows XP, which is another reason we have so many tech jobs being out-sourced to India.

As for OSX being inferiour to Windows, I'll offer you the same challenge I give the other Mac users:

- Google the top 10 24/7 Web Host/Application providers in your area, and show me *1* using either Apple hardware or OSX.

- Walk into any corporate server farm on the planet and show me the ratio of Windows boxes to OSX. Then note the education level and experience of those running those servers compared to the junior_college_graphics_arts flunkie raving about Apple in the media dept.

- The 10,000+ users I support don't have a problem With windows, so maybe it's just you.

- Compare the ratio of profit Microsoft makes selling actual business software -vs- hardware -vs- Apple selling iPods. Essentially, if it weren't for the iPod, Apple stock would be on the junk bond list.

And a parting shot.....

I use Photoshop CS2 and various other digital software. I wasn't aware Apple Corp wrote Photoshop, which is more proof Apple tries to fool their users into being unaware of differences between the OS and Applications.

Christ, maybe we shuld go back to just using mainframes if that's the way you want it.

Having a huge market doesn't make it better to use. To say OSX isn't a great OS is crazy, and makes you sound like a fanboy.
