LOL look what I got for free

Give to me. My roommate is currently attempting to program a 66mhz laptop so that it will display what song is currently being played on our music server, hooked up to the speakers in the living room of course.

You can press the big red button and skip songs, but you have no idea what is playing. 🙁

only thing this laptop doesnt have is the cord that plugs into it. i used it at my cousins house and it worked, but he was sayng that the cd rom wasnt working because it needs drivers for it. he was saying sometimes you couldnt boot into windows 98 in normal mode. but i need to get that plug from my cousin.

I have the exact same one. Paid $100 for it on Ebay 4 years or so ago, with case, CDROM, ext floppy drive, and other accessories.

I used it for datalogging in my car. Worked great. Still have it, in fact, and it still works.

Cool! 🙂 I might hang on to it then. I guess I can make it useful. 🙂

i have a wireless PCMCIA card that I can put in it, but I dont think using it for internet is a good idea at all lmao.

haha, got all you guys beat, i got, also for free (its been sitting, unused, in someones basement for the past who knows how long), a compaq laptop with a 100mhz pentium, 40mb ram, internal floppy drive, no cd possability, ahh, 450mb hard drive, like a 12.1" screen, and heres the best part, the docking station on this animal will let me add in ANY ISA card i want to. i though that was pretty cool. its stored away in my closet right now. i now there are slower laptops out there, but i thought this was pretty cool none the less. 🙂

oh, and the battery still holds a full charge!!

That won't work unless the wireless card is 16 bit. This computer can't run 32 bit PCMCIA cards.

That said, I used to take it on vacations and stuff, and jack it into the hotel's ethernet (if the hotel had it). Worked OK for the internet, although pages with lots of graphics / animations were slow and annoying.

And the battery life was terrible - I used to run it on an inverter plugged into my car's cigarette lighter when I did datalog runs.

Yeah the card is probably 32 bit. Its a netgear wireless card.

I will probably do what hamburgerboy said, just load it up with a bunch of old games.
