Jon made it sound like the homeowners did nothing wrong but I understand his disgust at CNBC and Santelli.
The end was sweet.

Santelli wasn't complaining with the banks getting 2 trillion dollars, but when helping out homeowners he complains? Sounds like a Wall Street scumbag to me.

You mean the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
Yes, lets take Jon Stewart's word for it that he likes the government giving money to banks, but Jon Stewart has never heard of Santelli until recently. Hmmm, interesting. Santelli rails against the government spending any money because he knows the government can't do shit without over paying to do it.
But yes, lets not rail against the losers who decided they could afford mortgages just because the bank would give them money. At some point in your life, you need to learn to take responsibility for your own finances. These people who can't pay their mortgages are people who lied about their income, or they thought they could buy a mortgage they couldn't afford now and then refinance later. The people who were tricked by some fly by night mortgage companies only represent a small portion.

Jon Stewart thinks he funny cutting out part of the rant to show only what he wants to show. He cut out the part of Santelli's rant that told you why you don't subsidize the "losers'" mortgages. I think he's just mad because he finally opened his 401k statement while waiting for Santelli to show up.

Obviously the people who took on a mortgage they can't afford take most of the blame, but one would sure hope a fricken bank would be smart enough to not take part in self destructive behavior such as giving out these loans in the first place.

Even Captain Obvious just did a face palm. No shit, that's how the show is. The fact that you get offended by it is laughable.
I find it funny that you accuse Jon of being sympathetic to bailing out the people with failed mortgages, when its just a tool he was using to point out the hypocrisy.

And we saw what happened to those banks. They failed or got bought out. AIG is a piece of shit that should not have been allowed to survive in its current form. It's also complicated by the fact that not all mortgages were issued by banks. They were done by companies like Countrywide, and these companies were the ones sending out most of the bad mortgages. They originated the mortgage and then sold it to someone else.

And we shouldn't forget the selling of these mortgages. Why would the lender care if they make their payments if the lender has already made its money back by selling the mortgage
