Yeah, you probably have an MSDN subscription. :roll:Originally posted by: Shawn
Damnit! This is dog slow. It just restarted and now it says "Please wait..." Hopefully it's just because it's beta. If the final version takes this many resources I don't think I'll ever upgrade to vista.
edit: Now it says "Please wait for the Local Session Manager". wtf is that?
edit2: "Please wait for the user Profile Service..." LOL

I installed vista (the latest beta) on vmware, it does take very long to install, and it takes some workarounds to complete installation on vmware, but eventually it installed.
Vista looks like an improved xp as far as GUI goes.
They have a couple of neat visual effects, like when you want to resize icons you can do it using a drag button, rathen than xp's radio buttons.
Anyway, I'm not going to review the damn thing now, but buttom line is that it looks and feels nice (also explorer 7), though I'm no yet convinced it's worth the $$$ for upgrading from my current xp pro.
For all of you who would like to try it, you can d/l from MS's site for free, and loads of other less legal places over the net. If you don't wanna fvck your own system for that I suggest installing it over VMware or VirtualPC.
I don't know minimal requirments for sure, though it's probably somthing like:
intel 1.4 Ghz (or equiv.), 256 mb of RAM, 16gb HDD, and some sort of a graphics card (probably your riva TNT won't do thoguh...).
have fun
Quit posting heresay and rumors. Specs will obviously be more than typical, but that's expected for an OS that's coming out 5 years after it's predecessor. But don't look for minimum specs to far exceed what you saw for XP. Now if you want to run Vista with all the bells and whistles, then that's another story.Originally posted by: nakedfrog
