On the show gangland, the gang members often talk about how the drug dealers were their idols growing up. They are the ones in the projects with money, bling, cars, and women. Most of them end up dead or in jail, that's not a good future. At least we might break the cycle of so many disadvantaged kids wanting to follow in their foot steps.Originally posted by: Fingolfin269
What would be the next big thing uneducated street dwellers would turn to for cash?

Again, why does the left want to legalize MJ when they want to outlaw smoking, trans fats, SUV's, fast food, etc...
I asked that question in a different thread. They are all for banning things they think are evil but attack their magic herb and look out!
I don't mind the idea of destroying your own health. Perhaps if we had a socialized healthcare plan, then there can be some things that should not be covered (Lung damage if you are a smoker, heart care if you are obese, liver treatment if you drink, etc).Originally posted by: DAPUNISHER
The spokesman, who is obese, was talking about how we see people destroying their health with drug abuse. Abusing food is also terrible for your health, maybe he missed that memo?Originally posted by: Possessed Freak

Then there are growers and others that could get involved in the agricultural aspects, where their expertise would be highly sought after.
Billions saved on enforcement, prosecution, and warehousing. Billions more in taxes, and jobs in the production and distribution chain.
Why is it so terrible to think, that someone might come home after a hard day, and stop by the corner store for some MJ instead of a 12 pack? The harder drugs should remain illegal, they are just too destructive.

Don't take what I wrote the wrong way. Believe me, the fallout for drug dealers, growers, kingpins, etc. doesn't really matter that much to me. It was just something I was trying to figure out when discussing this topic the other day. I figure a crack salesman is a pos and will continue to be a pos so I was trying to figure out what shay activity they would move on to next.

As if there is one huge group called 'the left' who all believe exactly the same thing...
Besides I don't see what this has to do with socialism. It's more a liberal/authoritarian thing. If you're in favour of legal cannabis you should be in favour of legal cigarettes and even loose gun laws. It's the only consistant liberal position.
Legalizing and regulating heroin would actually reduce the number of accidental heroin overdoses significantly. And accidental heroin overdoses are by far the largest single cause of all illicit drug deaths, with something like 10 times more than all other causes combined.Originally posted by: Skoorb

I've gone back and forth on this whole legalization thing for awhile now. I'm good with MJ being legal but as far as the others I'm not really sure.
Let's say everything is legal tomorrow. We're taxing the hell out of it and making a 'killing'. What would happen to all of the drug dealers? There source of income is now gone. What would be the next big thing uneducated street dwellers would turn to for cash?
