That sucks that they get licenses and get to vote though wtf, I'll give you that. Another reason why we desperately need another "Amnesty." Just give the ones that are already here citizenship so they can pay their due goddamn it. It's fucking impossible to deport all of those already here. At the same time, have some better border security, and/or at least some program in conjunction w/ the Mexican gov't (like work visas, or Mexican gov't giving local businesses at least some incentive to set up shop south of the border for the labor).

However...
This nation had immigration laws starting at the turn of the 20th century to specifically alienate a specific group of people. Our immigration laws were always against a specific group... or, to put it bluntly, legal racism. To put it otherwise is just ignoring that fact. But, really, I don't care for that.
It was done to serve a specific purpose. Whether it served its purpose, I don't care. It was the law. People had to follow it, and it was enforced. The current law is law, and since it is law, we MUST enforce it, yet we do one shitty ass job at it.

As I said before, the current illegal population should just be naturalized so they can finally pay their due.

Ideologically, within the current law, I hate to have amnesty, but seriously, there's no other logistical nor cost effective way. Do the amnesty, have proper border enforcement, and provide border states with incentives to have US businesses and/or work visas to actually set up shop south of the border with the cooperation w/ the Mexican government. To put it bluntly, we should very damn well have legally paid slaves south of the border, so they don't have to run across in the first place.

We have to be upset due to the lack of enforcement and porous border. But no, we just have to be blaming one demographic for crimes that are performed by any demographic; even our own citizens.

2 blocks from where I grew up, there (was, now demolished by the city) a condemned house that homeless mexi's used to live in. It was right on the freaking corner at the highway across from the fire station / police station.

There were several places in town where homeless mexicans would sleep / live. Most of the locations are still used by GASP homeless mexicans today. One of them was the "Cultural Center" that was basically MexiCentral. The back of the building was covered in homeless mexicans covering themselves in all kinds of dumpster clothes, newspaper, etc.
