Don't know why it was locked, but:
My four year old was indeed supposed to get my 9800Pro. I had to trade it for a 5800Ultra when the 5800Deluxe I received was no good/I was trolled.
In the meantime, I had sold his 4200 thinking he'd be stepping up to the 9800Pro, so he's stuck with onboard GF2 MX now.

He'll likely get the 5800 Ultra when I upgrade to nV40 or R420, he likes it.

He likes to game, and can beat me easily at Pac-Man World2 on his XBox, which impresses the heck out of me. He's had a PC and been a PCGamer for a year.

Anyway, that's the story.

My 5 year old daughter is on a 1800+@1.9gig, 2x256 XMS PC3500, 80gig WD SE, BFG 5900NU, all in a Biostar SFF, with a 21" monitor. She plays all kinds of games, and is pretty good at them too.

How is a 4-5 year old supposed to use a computer to begin with? I mean, wouldn't something like a Gamecube be more "age appropriate?" And you'd save yourself.......... a lot of money? Besides, they don't have Mario Party for the computer 😉

My kid has both Gamecube and PC. Well it's not her GC nor her PC but she uses them like they were. Kids 0wn0r1z on PC's these days, its amazing. My daugter is pretty swift, although I monitor what she can and can't play pretty closely.

Some of my buddies kids, one in particular, owns in UT. I'm not talking about just being able to play the game, he can often beat his dad in 1vs1 DM, and his dad is a pretty decent player (we LAN quite often). I can't believe he lets his 6 yr old play UT, but it is pretty awesome to watch the shorty hand it out with flak cannon.

My youngest son Jeremy is 5 (just turned) and is already a pretty good gamer, even FPS games and racing games!. Hes been using a computer for a couple years now, and is fairly proficient. He can log into his profile and fire up a game..no problem.

My soon to be 4yr old is on G2MX IGP too 😀 Seeing as he is all about Cartoon network's games like Jedi, PowerPuff girls, Dexter, and educational sites/software like PBS Kids it's plenty for him. I will be upgrading him to a Barton mobile/nF2 G4MX IGP board though because I can use more F@H production from it. Of course if I find a good price on a used P4c combo I'll go that route and just slap a stand alone G4MX in it.

BTW, when he grows out of the 5800U LMK because I want it back 😉

My little brother is 7, and he wipes the floor with me in racing games.

You just have to start the kid when they're little, their brains are sponges soaking up info far more easily than you and I tend to. My son won't be 4 till june but he can navigate by recognizing icons, directional arrows, and is even using the keyboard for some games now. I just hope voice recognition improves to the point where it's usable or we are going to have a whole generation suffering from carpal tunnel eventually.

My son is pretty decent with the PC, he fires it up and switches games pretty well, sometimes it almost seems like he can read. For the most part his "games" on the computer are learning games, but they seem to fascinate him.

As far as Gamecube goes, the graphics looked pretty cheesy so I got him an Xbox.

I don't know Punisher, I'm liking the 5800, and it's pretty cool just to have around. On the other hand it is big time overkill for anything he plays on his computer, so I haven't decided for sure what I'm going to do there. I'm trying to avoid the shooters for the most part till he's older.

lol kids have no comprehension of resolutions, and graphics quality, that means nothing to them, case and point, when I was little I had a Sega Genesis, that was the best thing in the world to me 🙂

They can comprehend anything you teach them 😉 and your SEGA was kick ass for it's day which is why it impressed you. Let me give you an example of why it's relative to the time frame, when the original movie The Thing From Another World came out in 1951 audiences where terrified by James Arness as the Thing. If you catch this on late night now you'll LOL@how pathetic the make-up and effects are. The point being that when the SEGA came out it was avant guard and compared with even older gen consoles was awesome, only in hindsight is it laughable.

IIRC it was SEGA Genesis that had pit fighter with the digitalized pictures of real fighters, man we played that game for hours and hours gettin' babes and cash for fighting and marveling at the graphics 😀

We've got a GC, and Mario Party 5 already.

You would be suprised how well a 5 year old can use a PC. She has a ton of games, and plays them all very well.

Our setup Another pic of our setup

Since then Ive gotten her a 21" Sony Trinitron CRT.

Whats nice is, it doubles as a good gaming machine.. and my brother and friends come over and we can play some BF side by side, or deathmatch.

Well, maybe your kiddo, but Jeremy knows which PC to jump on when he gets a chance😉

Ack sorry about the troll. There seems to a million of them in the FS/FT forum. They sell you some POS that hardly works, tell you only half the "story", or give you a part that doesn't meat up to standards of retail. Perfectly legal, but they love to rip people off.

I'm not trading anything in the FS/FT forums unless its for cash.

I think Rollo was EBay trolled if i'm not mistaken.

And I loved the "Thing", corny '50's effects, yes, but it did have decent suspence, along with that cool '50's sci-fi soundtrack.
