Not only do the sign off before the show beings, but they can say "no" at any time to any competition. Contestants have no grounds to sue, unless, of course, something goes horribly wrong.

I have no doubt that each and every contestant signs an iron-clad waiver that regardless of what happens, even Johnny Cochran couldn't find a way to sue the show.

That is what I meant; however, I didn't word it very well.

I'm sure that they cannot sue no matter what happens, but I have no doubt that Fear Factor (aka, NBC) will pay whatever the costs if one of the contestants is severely injured.
