I dont even have a walmart near me. The closest thing is a target and that place sucks. Angry obese soccer moms galore.
 
I don't get why he would not of showed it, but I also don't get why they would BAN for something silly as this. Also how do they keep track? It's not like an internet forum where you can block the IP.

why should he have to show it? at that point its his and if they think he stole something they can have security there to stop him. its also pretty infective way to keep people from stealing. 99% of the time they just mark it whith a pen and don't really look.

the only way walmart can keep track is if security or management reconginze him then they can call the police.
 
Meh doesn't matter to me. He doesn't want to show his receipt which is his right and it's Walmart's right to allow him to shop there. I'd never shop in a Walmart but this doesn't bother me at all. Just go on with your life and be merry.

depends on the store. I've got about half a dozen within a dozen or so miles from me, the ones in the minority dominated areas all check, others normally not. Also one of those closest to me that checks has also recently changed its cd/dvd area to put all products behind locked cabinets, can't do anything but browse from afar without getting help.

How about Costco invest in some detectors so this doesn't happen. You don't see this at Target or Best Buy....

Well it's not like they can chase them. In retail stores, no one other than the store security/theft prevention people can chase them and even they won't chase people down 99% of the time either cus it's not worth it.

I know but usually they'll try to stop you (verbally) regarding the receipt. They won't just shrug and whatevers. Fry's employees are probably the least likely to protest if you just walked past them and said fvck no.

Sure, but he would of saved himself lot of trouble by just taking the 2 seconds to show it. Guess he was just trying to prove a point, that he has the right not to show it, unfortunately that backfired.
 
Was there not a thread here where a guy complained that he was tackled at Walmart by another customer when he did not show a receipt for an xbox 360?

Yep. Unfortunately the guy is too dumb to recognize the irony in the situation - that Walmart is just exercising their rights. It doesn't matter WHY they're exercising their right to refuse him service just like it doesn't matter why he's exercising his right to not show them his receipt.

My Walmart doesn't check receipts. In my life I think I've only had my receipt checked once, and that was at Best Buy (and Costco of course). I chose not to exercise my right to refuse. Choosing not to exercise a right is not the same as giving it up. No harm is done when I choose not to exercise a right, and I'm willing to inconvenience myself slightly to help stores cut down on theft. I'm also willing to show my ID when I use a credit card (though I've only ever been asked in Hawaii), even if I don't actually HAVE to.

If some asshat decided to tackle me when I said I would not show a receipt, you'd better believe I would press charges for assault, and I'd file a civil suit against him as well.

This seems like overkill by walmart, but they are within their rights, as he is within his rights to do what he did. I don't get why he'd get a warning for trespassing either, unless they caught him in the store again.

Miserable scumbags? Wow. Seems a little harsh for someone simply asserting their rights. Nothing wrong with asserting your rights, as long as you are willing to deal with the consequences -- in this case, getting banned from China-mart.

I don't see the harm in showing them a receipt for 2 seconds to avoid the hassle, but both walmart and the guy are well within their rights. I don't see a problem with what either side.

I think this person should refuse to show receipts every time a sensor goes off. In 5 years, he'll be banned from all stores. The guy is an idiot. If i owned a store and this happeend to me, I'd ban the person also. I don't want him as a customer.

The guy who got banned is a dolt and deserves what he got.
 
what a fucking retard.

if i walk through a detector and set it off, especially after buying DVD's or something i KNOW has a theft device in it, i immediately pull the receipt out and hold it up. usually they just nod me through.

i do this despite the the fact that i'm a total dickhead. this guy must be some kind of ultramegasuperdickhead.

what do you think they should be able to do when you enter a store, make a purchase and then decide not to honor their rules?
