If you accept independence day as a mildly plausible then cowboys fighting off aliens really isn't much of a stretch from there IMO. If the movie doesn't take itself to seriously it'll be fine.

Independence day was really just like a disaster movie though. Monuments destroyed, humanity helpless and impotent...situation miraculously resolves itself after mass amounts of death. Politician gives speech about resilience of humanity, the end.

Guess I'll have to wait to find out as I know nothing about the movie and or comic it's based on?
 
People complain about the horrible accents American actors have when playing English characters, then this douchenozzle gets cast as a cowboy...
 
Hmm.. Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Ron Howard is involved? It might be pretty good. The trailer isn't bad.

in the trailer Daniel Craig shoots down a UFO with the alien weapon on his wrist. that makes me think that either another alien race or rebels from the same alien race equipped him.

whatever the case, i don't see many movies but opening night may be in order for this one.
 
The plot is a stretch, but every trailer I see makes me want to see it more. It's directed by Jon Favreau(AKA Iron Man director) and has Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell in it....

It's on my list of movies to see...

pretty sure that's pat tillman... arizona cardinal linebacker who decided to leave a $3.6 million contract over three years with the cardinals to join the army after 9/11... he was killed by friendly fire in afghanistan at age 27.

a little respect for an american war hero.
