$90 according to him

HOLY FREAKING MOTHER OF LICE!! WHAT INSANE SICK TWISTED WAY TO STEAL PEOPLE's MONEY!! :disgust:  :frown: 🙁

Maybe I should charge $50 and steal their business 😀

*EDIT*

Still don't have the stupid software... he signed off about half way through the file transfer :disgust: Hopefully I'll get it later tonight.

So I have the software now... it looks like just a bunch of Hotfixes... most have SP2 in the file name... so... yeah... they're installing hotfixes from SP2 beta... isn't that nice? =)
There's also a virus removal folder... looks like just a bunch of individual .exe's to fix various viruses (they're labeled, klez, love, etc.)
There's also a list of fixes in .NET Framework 1.0 SP2

This BB Tech who sent it to me claims the guy who "made" this CD with these fixes and whatnot modified some of the fixes and cab's... but it doesn't give a list of anything it changes... they all just look like Hotfixes to me... plus a couple things called MSJAVWU, js56nen, FPATCH, 24WW3SP1... anyone know of a way I could find out what changes are made if you run all this crap?

Did you try googling those programs listed? I wouldn't run them without doing a little research first.

KeyserSoze

I've been searching MS's website for the hotfixes... none of them are anything that would do anything for performance like this guy says. Here's some examples of the hotfixes...

Number 1
Number 2
Number 3
And the list goes on...

If you don't care why the hell did you bother posting here? Ya flippin moron.

Boredom?
Really, I was wondering why you ignored the part of se7enty7's post where he said "They run windoctor 2k3, turn things off in msconfig, defrag, scandisk, and more (depending on person)" and you assume that all they do is install hotfixes, even though se7enty7 works at Best Buy. Who really cares if Best Buy offers a service to the computer illiterate that you will never use? I just don't get it.

Edit: It also appears that this Best Buy tech you know who in your opinion is a smart guy is in fact, not (based on what you've been saying about him).

Where the hell did you get the idea that I think he's smart????????

*EDIT* (bolded part) As he said, it depends on the person... this particular person I talked to said this is what they do for $90.

Well here is a little tidbit for ya'll.

I happen to know, for a fact, that there are tech's and supervisors that work at Best Buy's that run a "Tune Up Special."

This translate to:

Take the computer in back, wait half an hour, bring computer back out and charge $60.

Thats it.

It does not surprise me that this particular tech says this service is $90. Hell, it is a bargain. You actually have something done to your computer.

And for se7enty7, if your Best Buy works differently, good for you! Make sure it stays that way. Not all Best Buy's are that honest. And as a long term cashier at several places, I can tell you that it is soooooo simple to add items to the register (to ring up, not to the registry of windows.) On top of that, there are always manual ring ins / manual "service sheets" you can fill out.

But, I will leave it at that. 🙂

In your first response to se7enty7, it looked like you were calling the tech a smart guy - looking back, apparantly you're calling se7enty7 smart guy.
