EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW😀

I have fun with telemarketers now. I go to that soundboard page on ebaumsworld and pick a theme for the day.

Today will be Samuel L. Jackson day.

I loved hearing this on the news last night. Telemarketing companies are one of the world's most evil corporations. It is time for them to die off.

My favorite telemarketer story is from a lady I met one evening. She was about 40, and obviously a very religious person. Everything we talked about she later related to some bible passage. She was a telemarketer and I was curious about her job since I hate telemarketers. She works for a company that makes calls for political parties. She is assigned a task and cannot choose which politician she must raise funds for. One month she was forced to raise funds in support of abortion (women's rights). She is strongly Catholic and opposes abortions with a passion. Any normal person would quit instead of raising money for something you strongly oppose. But no, not a telemarketer. She raised funds for the one thing she hates the most. Evil, evil, evil.

Since that do-not-call list went into effect, I've been getting tons of spam...mostly about buying drugs.

You do realize that the politicians exempted themselves from the Do-Not-Call list, right? That poliical telemarketing is exempt? I like how you stereotype all telemarketers into one with this lady. You realize that telemarketers usually make somewhere just barely north of minimum wage and have to eat, right? That quitting her job, simply due to her principals, might have left her out on the street and hungry? What are you that you don't know that? 15? :disgust:
I like how you think that regular people who are just struggling to pay their bills with a crappy job are "evil"? May financial misfortune befall you, and may you be forced to take a job that violates your principals just so you can eat.

Oh and what mod slipped and made you elite?

I'd have to say: wow. You certainly took that post hard. Here are some responses:
1) I live in the telemarketing capitol of the world (Nebraska). Here, the typical starting salary for many low skilled jobs (retail, food service, etc) is about $5.50 an hour. The typical starting salary for a telemarketer is $9 an hour. That is almost double minimum wage, and far better than what many other employees around here get.
2) Yes political telemarketing is exempt. My story was an example of what the telemarketers who keep their jobs are willing to do - anything for money. They are willing to go against the core of their beliefs for a job - and not even a highly desireable job at that. Sure some telemarketers will quit when given that choice - they aren't evil. It is the ones that stick around which are evil.
3) That one lady was just an example. I have others. I get home everyday with 2-3 messages on my answering machine from the same telemarketer that I have told in the past not to call me. I've been called at 6 am. I've been called at 10 pm. All of those three examples I thought were illegal. Telemarketing is generally set up to do one of two things: (a) annoy you until you give up and buy the product or (b) trick you into buying the product. Either of which, to me, should be illegal and is definately a sign of evil.
4) Nebraska typically has the lowest unemployment rate of any state. Thus everywhere you go here, there are more jobs than people. She could have easilly gotten another job.
5) It was an honor to be made elite. I don't know who made that decision. The ball started here. Feel free to complain in the 'forum issues' about my status if you wish.
6) I am 26.
