Been in the 30's here too, definitely brutal. We're going on a trip down south soon, as much as I want it to be nice I don't want it to be that hot every day, it's just too much especially because the place we're going to live has no AC. :| Proper working AC should be a building code in the south! 😛

We don't have AC in domestic homes here, it's not worth it for the one week of hot weather we get every year. 🙁

Houses are brick construction with a cavity wall so they tend to insulate quite well anyway.

We tend to panic in the winter if it's below freezing for a week or we get over an inch of snow. I'm really not sure what temperature it would have to be not to cause a national panic.

That's kinda how it is here. Lot of people here do have central AC, but it's only needed for the 2ish weeks of really hot days, and even if we get an out of ordinary long heat wave, our summer is 2 months, so at very worse, it will be used for about 2 months.

I was going to actually get it this year using my tax money but ended up spending that on a server instead. 😛

My apartment gets pretty toasty when it's hot outside. It's on the top floor with all the windows facing southwest and no trees or buildings blocking the sun.

30-32C / 90F in the bedroom and sticky moist air makes it hard to sleep. It's a completely different thing when you have AC so you can get away from the heat and humidity.

This week we've had cool 70s/80s (we should be well over 100 by now) and lots and lots of RAIN! Summer rain is unusual 'round these parts.

Don't forget, you're in a permanent AGW drought. Next time it stops raining they'll remind you of that.

It's supposedly 16C outside according to the weather network. My sensor shows 20, but it's embeded inside a brick so I think it's delayed as brick takes a while to absorb and then dissipate heat. Humidity is at 100%. :hmm: Now question is, do I open all the windows and drop the temp by 10 degrees, but super high humidity, or do I leave it alone.

Texans should come try out our -40 winters. :awe:

100 degrees in a drought is much easier than when humid. We used to get 100 here on occasion when I was a kid, but it was generally dry. no big deal.

I was in the SE europe during a heatwave some years back.. was around 110 and very humid.. christ it was brutal. No AC in the car we had either. The never drying off after a shower was the worst part.

I've even seen -50, though we only get a few of those days a year now, but I remember back in high school it was common. It's actually not that bad if there's no wind, but if there's wind, that's where it can be pretty brutal.

People have been saying "its hot" since the ACs went in.

You get used to it and simply don't want to be in anything outside of 60-70 degrees.....even if temps dip.

I like it cause there is less crowds outside!!!

When did FelixDeKat change to MeowKat?

Also it depends on the infrastructure. Cities in the South are set up for hot weather but up North not so much.

Didn't they read about Global Warming YEARS ago when Al Gore warned everyone? Walmart's open 24/7 baby! They could have bought their AC window units by now. I have no sympathy for stubborn Canadians and New Englanders. (and most of my family lives up that way!)

I wish it was 95+ here. Been in the 70s pretty much all "summer" with a few days in the 80s so far. Last year was awesome with several days at/near 100.

I was in Broome, Australia in late November the start of the wet season, it was 42c with humidity of 90% and was told that the AC is not available because it wasn't hot enough...fml that was awefull weather

I've lived in New York (upstate) and currently live in Houston (last 18 years). I would take the winter of Upstate New York over the summer of Houston any day.

Houston summers suck and usually start around Mid May and last through Mid-Late October. It's usually around Halloween that we either get our first coldfront, or it's still hot as balls.

Then you have what we call "Winter" or what I call "Cold Front Season". It's a pleasant time of having to check what the weather is going to be all day since while it may be 30*F when you wake up, it may be 70 by the end of the day so you'll have to lug around that jacket with you when it's too warm to wear it. Also have fun checking the weather every day and see highs in the 80s in December, then get hit with a cold front that lasts for a week to only have the cycle start back over.

Fall is awesome, I look forward to the cool weather...Winter sucks since I dread the heat that is coming up in the Summer.

I am so fucking glad we have A/C.

It irks me when people refer to relative humidity (%). It is such a meaningless measurement. 80% humidity can be extremely humid or extremely dry, depending on the air temperature.

Use Dewpoint. It's an absolute measurement.

<40ºF - Dry
40-60ºF - Comfortable
60-70ºF - Noticeably humid
>70ºF - Really fucking humid.

I've seen people from El Paso unable to go outside on a hot Midwest day.

It's a completely different type of heat. 100s in Texas is a goddamn vacation compared to being on a corn farm in the midwest.

It's been decently mild up until this current heatwave in IL. This is not really anything compared to last summer, but, the current heatwave is extremely uncomfortable. I look forward to fall.

weather over 80 deg should only happen in tropical locations where you can get umbrella drinks for like $2 and get drunk at the beach.
