I just got another car(Infinity G35) and I'm trying to figure out what's the best way to protect it. From what I figure, LoJack is the best way to go, but Im unsure on how the service/prcing is. Does anyone know? And do any of you have your own personal methods of protecting your car? I'm not talking about clubs or alarms, just ideas or devices you made yourself.

I have a Lojack in the CR-V

I got a service letter from LoJack like last year or so.
It was installed around 2000 and I received a letter late 2004 about having it checked out or whatever. ( They wanted something like 2xx.xx for the service.
 
Heh, heh, I've never had a car alarm, lo jack, teh club or any other sort of protection and have never had an automobile successfully stolen from me.

I say successfully because back in '74 I had an MG Midget that was dead that some dork tried to steal. He broke in and started pushing it down the street at 2:00 a.m.. Unfortunately for him there was a cop watching him push the car down the street. What a fvcking loser. We never even had to get the car out of impound because the case was so cut and dried. The cops called us and I went out and pushed it back to its parking place.

Moral of the story: Don't buy cars people want to steal. If you do, make sure it can't be started.
 
My mom got that installed in her Altima...works fine, except for the fact that sometimes the alarm won't turn off. They sent out a service person right away, though.
 
I got lo-jack also.. I paid for the life time package, 805.

I was looking for the system that uses the satellite to take a pic of your car from the top via website.. i had this website but maybe they went out of business as this is expensive..
 
these things are killing me. Cadillac and their OnStar crap.

Realistically, how many times have you yourself have got your cadillac stolen? I think it's just a piece of crap marketing. Everytime i hear their commecials come up with the usual single mother who's helpless that just got her car stolen or locked herself out of the car....grrrr

LoJack doesn't make an alarm sound.
It's suppose to be a Radio Transmitter type device that the POPO can pick up and locate your car.

meh...his mom's vehicle has a factory anti-theft device on it. Any time you add on to an existing system there is a possibility that the 2 systems will interfere with each other. That is why its always better to get an all in one rather than 2 or 3 different systems.


To the OP: Lojack does sound cool, but its not necessary. All nice cars today come with anti theft devices that are nearly impossible to beat. Unless you arent planning on not having insurance, save your money.

Lojack shouldn't interfere with the stock alarm anyways.
I've seen the LoJack unit at the car dealership and basically it's a small retangular plastic box that transmits signals when activated by the POPO and it's basically placed anywhere that's hidden in the car.
. I have no clue where it is in the CR-V.
 
No, Lojack sells alarm also. they just dont advertise it as much
