<< someone is getting an A at the cost of a DVD. I wish i could give away DVDs for good grades. >>

Gimme a break.

<< He said it was a design project where no logo was needed. It sounds fishy to me too. Why would a design project that needs a group name not need a group logo? What are you designing then? Oh well, no big deal. My submissions aren't going to beat that one dude's real nice stuff but it's fun playing around with crap like this. >>

As I stated earlier, A logo is NOT required. I do not have time to make one, but I would like one on our cover page. I have been selling DVD's on FS/FT, so I wont miss one.

A logo would make the cover page look nicer. It would look more "professional." At my university, all engineering students go through a Senior Design Capstone Program. They throw together a group of engineering students and give a project from the local industries. We work on it like it was a real project. Sometimes they use our ideas...sometimes they don't. My team is doing an expansion to a railroad yard in New Orleans, LA for Canadian National/Illinois Central.

I know of 2 or 3 groups that have made their own logos. The rest have just changed Fonts to make a "logo." I wanted a flashy one, but we don't know how to make them.

If anyone else thinks this smells "fishy," then feel free to get the hell out of the thread.
>>

Dude, settle yourself. I just thought it was weird that you had a design project but needed no "group logo design." It's not that big a deal. Now that I know what the true design project is, ie: railroad design, and you're not trying to get someone to do your work for you I understand. Plus my post was supposed to be taken lightly and it's not like I'm gonna win anyway so it doesn't really matter.

CHECK OUT ALL MINE HERE!!!!

EDIT: Sorry about all the dumb popups that come up when you go to my index page and crap. I like free web hosting services though.

Crantang, they're great. Especially for someone who's never used photoshop before. You should see my first. I could have done the same thing in Microsoft Paint

say nik don't dis microsoft paint. :) I've gotten out of several tight spaces with it, when merely-passable graphics were needed in a short time frame on a computer with no other graphics-editing software.

It's actually not that bad. Until PS 6.0, I used MS Paint to draw circles and other curves, then copied and pasted in Photoshop. From that last sentence, can you conclude that I can't draw at all with the freaking Pen Tool? Yes. Such a counter-intuitive system for drawing curves.... Of course if I spent more than 1 hour a month using PS, I would learn how to use it, but for now, I can get by without it.

BTW the links to your site aren't working. nslookup from my university's server shows " can't find ffmcobalt.com: Non-existent host/domain". more DNS problems?

I don't claim to be any good at making logos, as witnessed HERE.

It should look ok after printing, who knows.

There have been some great logos created so far, you will end up with a good one, that's for sure.

<< Ha. I usually get between $80 - $100 for a logo, and here I am fighting for a $15 dvd. Oh well, I'm bored. >>

Graphic Artists Guild Pricing & Trade Customs

Identity Project (Logo Design)
(I won't list the entire breakdown)
$2000 - $100,000*

A little advice from a fellow designer... reevaluate your pricing schedule. :D

Maybe you haven't seen his work ... His pricing schedule actually seems a bit high.

I dunno what's going on with my site, but the DNS seems to flop up and down. It's more up than down, but seems to go down once a week or so. I'm already talking to the system admins.
