Just completed a logo for a wine/spirits company. The first one was rejected, so I redid it:

Logo 1 (REJECTED)

Logo 2
--
Logo 2 tweak

Thoughts? It's more along the lines of what they wanted. I actually think I like the second one a bit more anyway. (oh, and obviously their images are much higher quality :p)

Edit: Tweaked the text

I think attributing angels to wine was the reason for it being rejected. I liked it, though. The second is...kind of dull.

The first one is excellent IMO. Shame they didn't accept it. Oh well, they're the customer. Nothing wrong with the second one, it just fails to cleverly play on the name like the first one does.

first one has a religious tone IMO, maybe that's why they rejected it.

i like the 2nd one as well, although i'm not huge on the font used. but i like the wine glasses toasting idea.

Oh, wait, I see the play in #2 now. Subtle, but IDK if I like it as much anyway (and usually I prefer subtle things).

My initial reading of the second one was "Good Sports drinks"

#2 is nicely done.. but boring. I like #1, but I can see why it was rejected.

#2 (tweaked) is more boring.

I tweaked the font a little bit. Image in OP. I think the skinnier, flatter text is more cohesive with the wine glasses

Ha, that's also one thing I was worried about; readability.

I think the first one was rejected because of the Christian connotation. Maybe insensitive to other religions who don't believe in heaven, angels, and halos.
Also it could also be seen as drink, drive, die, go to heaven.

No, the first one was rejected because it is plain stupid.

Is it just something for a website or their actual company logo?

Did they say why they rejected the first?

I don't drink whatever that is in #2, but it's a weird color to me (light gray)

The second two look way too clip-arty. The first one looks good but I agree about the religious connotations.

the first one is awesome. the 2nd one is good. the third is the worst of them all.

customers are idiots. i used to do web and graphic design in the dark ages, and i'll never forget this one business i did a site and logo for. the first iteration was very demure. before we went "live" they asked me to spice it up a bit, and i did. i was very pleased with the outcome, and so were they.

that is, until the boss saw it. he's the one that signed the check. he had me go back to the original design and dumb it down even more. the result was an absolutely tasteless site that no one liked but him.

*shrug*

I don't really like either design, but the first one doesn't work at all for me. I don't know, but with a name like Good Spirits, I think I might do without any images and maybe do an intertwined text in a very ornate, decorative font.
