was that a "good luck" like "hey, I hope you do well"?

or a "good luck" like "this is so stupid and the prize so low that no one will participate and you have no chance so good luck because youll need it"?

;)

A little bit of both. :) I actually do hope you get a nice logo, but some people *cough* have been a little disenchanted with the idea of logo contests and are shying away from them. However, I still think there are plenty of people willing to help you out. :)

i can respect that ... I understand that some people dont like them, but I also think some people enjoy the chance to be creative and create something ... not to mention the chance at a prize, small as it may be.

Anyway, I am doing this for free for a friend, and my logos sucked, so I figured I'd offer up some $ and see what the AT community could get for me. If this becomes a nuisance, as I said, I'll put an end to it, or the mods can just delete this thread. I just like to see what the creative minds here can come up with.

Thanks to all who participate, and especially thanks to those who hate the idea but put up with me/this thread ;)

I'd try to help you, but I'm gonna be really busy today. If I have a few minutes perhaps I can bang out something....

Basically, I am looking for a logo for a small company. I am in need of a square or circle "logo" as well as a rectangular banner (most likely just the logo with the name written again next to it)

The company is named "K & S Yacht Works"

Obviously the business deals with boats, so if that could be worked into the logo, thatd be great... also maybe a blue theme for "water"
These are merely suggestions, as I am open to ANYTHING anyone thinks might be a good idea.

All submissions will become my property to use (you won't get any reward beyond the constraints of this contest)

I will need the logo in whatever format, jpeg or original (from whatever program it was created in) I would like to get from all submissions the file (either linked to or emailed to me) and the name of the program used. You can email taylor@taylordonlan.com or post here.

The winner (or winners if multiple logos are used) will receive $25 paypal (or up to $30 from buy.com, amazon, etc. - ordered immediately, shipped to you or whoever - not a gift certificate, and no "change" from the $30) and I may throw some other things in the mix if i find them.

The contest will end tomorrow, september 25th at 11:59pm eastern, and a winner will be posted by 1 hour later. Paypal will be sent out ($25), or items ordered from ANY online store (up to $30), upon hearing from the winner his or her preference. If the winner prefers a check, that may be arranged as well, but only in the amount of $20.

Let me know if there are questions
Thanks A Million

suggestion:

since it sounds like your logo is going to be relatively simple, no complex data involved, why not do a vector graphic instead of a bitmap? Logos are generally best done in .ai or .eps vector. It will print better (esp. text) than a bitmap, and you can enlarge it and shrink it without loss in quality, the file size will be smaller, the printing industry in general prefers them over bitmaps. I can do you a logo, that i think you'll be pleased with, but not for less than $100. It will be something you can use on business cards, shirts, logos, website, you name it, for years. Sometimes you honestly get what you pay for TaylorD. Good luck anyways.

I completely understand that this is going to be a budget looking logo.

this company is just getting started; maybe when it is larger, more money will be invested in logos and the like.

Just out of curiosity, what program would you recommend using or would you use to make the vector graphic?
