Logitech's Z560 Speakers - have them?

I just recently bought them and to be honest with you now I just can't wait to go home after work to listen to them. I really like the way they look and they are a pleasure to listen to. Does any of you have some good/bad comments to share with other Z560 owners? Things you love about them and things that ppl should avoid doing?

Right now I have nothing but good things to say about them, but than again, I only have them for 2 days 🙂.

cant say I heard them for an extended period of time yet. But they do sound pretty good. Though I prefer my BA7800's 🙂

how much did you pay for yours thought.......around $140US? Can you provide me with a link?
I wanna see them for myself hehehe 🙂

They are a good set of speakers, but a word of advice for you even though this is probably an insult to your intelligence would be not to ever turn them all the way up. I had a friend come over a few days ago and he pumped my speakers all the way up and played music and played counterstrike and he blew my sub. Now, my sub rattles like hell. I've had these speakers since January and they were working perfectly up until recently...

I will get evicted from my apartment if I tried to play it at more than 75% of the max volume.
Those speakers are good but way too much bass. I had to turn it down in the sound card properties as even with the knob all the way down on the controller, the bass is too much.

Thanks for the advice, but I am not going to turn them ALL the way up, max I'll go is half or maybe 2/3. They are very loud even on 1/2 - more than I need.

And when it comes to bass, bass is good, there is no such a thing as TOO MUCH bass 😀.

I agree-- the z560s are extremely bassy. If that's what you love, then these are for you.

Personally, I have had lots of neighbors who weren't considerate of others. I don't to hear my neighbors, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual. I bought these speakers as my pc is my stereo while I live overseas. I do wish I have more control over the bass, as I don't want to bother my neighbors.

I picked up the speakers during the initial hype about this set. I'm very pleased ! I listen to all types of music. And this set produces nice solid sound with any type of music. R&B, especially, has a new meaning when u have a good sub and satellites. 10/10 !!! no doubt

As for those people who are blowing their Z560 sets, I CAN see how that's possible. These speakers get loud!!! So you just have to watch the volume levels.

I don't like to hear other ppls bass either so I don't play my loud, but I like to feel and hear the bass even at low volume modes. You can always turn it off in your sound card options (like SB LIVE, I would hope Audigy has the same option) and also turn down the knob on your 'remote'. This should eliminate the bass fully.

I use my comp as a multipurpose machine....... it is my gaming system, my working system, my audio system (don't have a stereo) and hopefully in the future (when I can afford to build a new PC) it will be my DVD system as well........hook it up to a TV, have these puppies playing and presto a home entertainment center!

I have them and they are very good speakers for the price - did you take the grills off the front speakers? Someone else mentioned it and I gave it a try... It gives the fronts a nice clean sound...😉

I actually have a little problem which became more noticable today.

I pluged all the sattelite speakers correctly at the back of the woofer, then pluged in the 'remote' into the back of my SB live - black to black, green to green connectors. Then I updated the drivers for my soundcard and made the speaker test. I don't hear anyhting coming from the rear speakers (M3D off) when there should be that chick talking. I hear only a voice (in all 4) when M3D is on but without the rear channels being seperated - I can just hear left channel (in front left and rear left) and right channel (FR&RR).

Q: WHat does the M3D feature do specifically? When turned ON, all of the speakers work and (i think) there is surround sound going on (I can't tell that much because my sattelites are not seperated in my room properly - the wires are too short).

Do you have to have this feature turned on for a surround experience and for the 4 sattelites to work independantly? Without the M3D, it seems like the speakers are meant only to be listened to on a 2.1 setup. Is this true?

M3D mode gives you 4 channels of sound if your sound card (or input device) only supports 2 speakers. SO if you plug a walkman into the front set and turn on M3D, all 4 speakers will play

I have these speakers and i like them. But i have only had cheap $10 speakers before.

Abut the M3D and having all 4 speakers working, i had to play with the driver for a while on my Audigy card. M3D is for if you don't have a 4.1 card, it mirrors the front i believe, and on mine made a strange watery sound before my sound card was doing 4.1.
But i assume you have a 4.1 card and so you shouldn't ever really use M3D, i find it is too quiet for music, and doesn't work well for games.

As for getting your drivers to do 4.1... Make sure your windows settings are 4.1.

This is for WinXP, but you should be able to figure out for a different OS.
Start > Control Panel > Sound Speech Devices > Change Speaker Settings > Advanced... > and i Picked Quadraphonic speakers. They don't have a 4.1 setting. and i assure you my bass works with the quadraphonic setting. But i also had to set my speakers to 4.1 in my audigy driver. I don't know what card you have, but the audigy drivers were buggy for me. Finally got it working though. 🙂 It's great to have 4.1 games like SOF2.

hope you get it working.

Thanks guys.

I have a SB live! Value card with the newest drivers and Win2K Pro. I will try to do what you told me in Control Panel - I might had missed a setting there. And like you say Rayden, with the M3d turned on it seems like the rear channels are 'mirroring' the front ones. I also think that you get an echo/reverb enhancements if you don't have a good sound card with thee M3D on.

I know that all the sattelites work and my 2 (front/rear) channels/plugs in my SB Live! work too so it must be a setting in windows or driver problem (but I installed the newest drivers for SB Live! like 3 times already!🙁)

I'll play around with it tonight after work. I mean I can live with the setting I have now (M3D on with 4 sattelites playing) but I would like to have the 4 speakers playing without M3D and whith the sound card recognizing (in the 'Speech speaker test (left channel, right channel bs)) all 4 sattelites independantly.........I remember that with the older drivers for SB Live I didn't have any problems with 4 speaker settings...... I may install the old ones just to see what happenes.
