This is a good deal, not hot because you could get these speakers at around this price from other internet stores. I still think the z560 is better then the z640, because it puts out more power, however thats just my 2 cents. The z640 is 5.1 though, so thats better then the z560. Of course if you have the money, go for the z680 baby.

Is the z540 worth it as a set of speakers? I would prefer getting the z640s but I'm trying to stay at a $50 budget (it's a gift for someone). Thanks to whoever can help.

The 640 is the new version of the 540. So I think it is well worth it. But you can get the 540's at amazon for around $40 after rebate.

yes that's what I was looking at. I noticed the rebate also mentions the z640 but I can't find it on amazon anywhere (hope they get it in soon). I would prefer to give my cousin a 5.1 setup versus a 4.1 for his games and also I don't have to pay tax (I pay tax for buy.com in CA). Thanks!

I also can't find the Z-640 on Amazon's site, but the rebate is valid until 12.31.02, so maybe there's hope.

Should be good with Turtle Beach Santa Cruz ? yes / no ? Box says something about "discreet 5.1" or something like that...

Also have Blaster Live MP3 + 5.1, which should be good; although card can handle dolby, I don't think I'm gonna spring for dolby speakers.
