Logitech z560 MESSED UP!!!

i got a logitech z560 a few months ago and today outta nowhere i noticed my rear left speakers were not working. i know its not the speaker thats messed up cuz i switched it to a diff spot and it still worked. i called logitech and they had NO toll free number so i was on hold for 20 mins long distance... then they tell me i gotta physically cut the power cord from the sub and mail that in with the control pod for me to get an rma. i just thought that was very strange. and i dont wanna go through all that.

anyone know wats wrong with the speakers?? i can hear sound coming from the sub for the rear left. should i just open it up??
 
I would probably go ahead and open it up personally but it sounds like you are having interference or something. I don't quite understand what is happening. Cutting the power cord off and sending in the control unit would be much better than shipping the whole system in IMHO.
 
Been reading alot of stories about the 560's going dead.

I'm guessing they are broken 😀 And it ain't no fuse.

When I was shopping for speakers in this price range I looked at z560's at 5 stores before I found a set that worked - at 4 of them the display model was broken in one way or another (3 places 1 or more satellites didn't work, 1 place the woofer did not work). Needless to say, I did not buy Logitech speakers.

I think it's pretty cool of them to let you just return the power cord and control pod instead of the whole damn thing.

If they allow you to do that, I would think that they are having a whole lot of returns. It's a shame this happened to speakers that sound OK all in all.

You get exactly what you pay for. People can say "it's half the price and sounds just as good". Other than the fact that they really dont sound as good as klipsch, they are built like POS. Go figure.

Like I said before, BOTH the Logitech Z560s and the "new" Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 speaker solutions have a relatively high failure rate. Klipsch is actively working on solutions and keep churing out different batches of the PM 5.1s, yet several people are reporting failures.

I would think that the Logitech Z560s are failing at a relatively high rate due to their amp... it just gets too warm and stressed.
 
im goin to stick a fan right next to my sub when i get my 560s... 2 z560 ($130x2=260 online) is less than one 4.1 ($300) o.0 worthy investment!
