how do I turn the bass down? Advanced properties under volume control is greyed out and I have it turned down all the way on the control unit. I hate to sell these. I have the philips acoustic edge soundcard.

on the AE go to the phillips control panel, and there is an option called "tone control" enable/disable this and play with the bass command. even the stock z560 bass was nothing cpmpared to what i could do with tone control!

I'm using the same exact sound card with my Z560's 😛 Just do what TheWart said and play around with the tone controls. I couldn't be happier with with my sound setup 🙂 Tell me you're kidding about selling your Z560 lol.... Then again I could use an extra set....

Don't put the sub in an enclosed area like under your desk or near a wall. Move it out into the open if you have the space.

I too think the z560's emphasize way too much the bass, this is not a problem that a simple equalizer (winamp) can't fix when playing mp3's and such. Can't you just run your music through an equalizer? I've also noticed that moving the sub around to different locations effected the sound greatly - this might help. I remember one post about a guy who was going to open up the sub and stuff some polyfil into it, to dampen the bass, the sort of stuff that car audiophiles do to their subs, I guess people to this for 'muddy' bass? Don't know if that's correct, I might try this one day.
