I have these speakers and they DO use regular speaker wires.🙂
 
Some z-5500 sets use RCA and some use speakerwire. I don't know if Newegg is up on things showing what you're actually getting.

For another $80-100 and without the DTS decoding, mind you. Can't say I've ever used the Klipsch but these sound great, are cheaper, and have hardware DTS decoding. Thanks OP.

I have bought 2 sets, returned one so basicly bought 2 but got 3 all from newegg and ALL of them used regular speaker wire. They have changed the design and the picture they are using may be the older one. Id say it is 99% unlikly you would get the older style with the attached wires.

And as far as speakers go they kick A$$. I use one set for my computer and one for my Home theater. These make no tonly the best pc speakers but are the best $250 Hometheater set up you will ever find.

One more thing to point out is it has a stereo line input on the pod next to the headphone jack. This way you can plug in your Ipod, casette player, or what ever to it without having to turn on the pc and go through your sound cards line it. Just thought I would mention this for al the ipod owners.
 
thx oupei.... this doesnt been dell's deal of about a month? ago, but i guess this is the best deal out there now.
 
this is a very nice setup considering it has dolby digital, dts, and pro logic II decoding. I know it's no audiophile system, but I'm sure it sounds better than most of those home theater in a box systems.

Don't forget, the klipsch has no remote either...

When I ordered mine, I went with ZipZoomFly because shipping was around $11 ground, and they're close enough to me so ground=next day shipping.
 
Unfortunately, ZZF's ground shipping on these is now $35 :-O (at least using the ship calc that's what it says)

That is what I use one set strictly for. My sat, dvd player, and xbox is hooked to it and it not only sounds better the a HT in a box but it is better then all the componant Hometheaters I have ever put to gether and paid ALOT more for.

Everything said here confirmed. I've bought 2 as well, both had regular speaker wires. Both sound incredible.
They also have 3 mini-stereo plugs coming out the back. If you use Coax or Optical like I do, one of those mini plugs can go to your gamecube, one to your TV and VCR, etc, with the right cables from walmart.

Incredible system, incredibile deal.
