Ahh, good buy. Will go well with the limited space on the desk! Them being small speakers makes it a plus also! How is the quality if I may ask. ^^

As for sound quality, so far, I haven't found anything they can't handle. As for the look and feel, they are VERY well built. Solid, yet very light. The sub is very solid; no rattles even with the heaviest of bass pumping thru it. All in all, a very well-built system. Great for gaming AND MP3s! The $21 price tag makes them a steal! The only weak point, shipping will (more than likely) be more than the cost of the set. :(

Just ordered a set. Shipping was $9.95. BizRate has them rated high so I ordered.

What kind of cabling does it come with? Are fixed to the speakers or they standard plug-in mini pins? My corner desk needs speaker wires which I can snake behind and if those are fixed, I can not use these speakers.

Also do they come with SPIDF connection? Logitech has no manual for this speakers on-line.

Thanks,

sontakke, I just got the 640 set for Xmas, and they are hard wired into the speakers. Each satellite is then routed to the sub via an RCA jack. The front length is about 6 feet and the rears are 15 feet. It was way too short for my needs so I picked up a M/F RCA extension cable for my rear satellites.

Whats the real difference between the two sets:

Logitech/Labtec Arena 530 5-piece Surround Sound System (970051-0403)

Logitech Z-540 4-point Speaker and Subwoofer Set (970056-0403) Brand New

thanks~ ^^

Thanks WT for the reply!

I have one of those Staples/HP Athalon (74E) desktop from the last year. It has AC97 codec. I believe this deskctop is based on FIC AM37 motherboard. I don't know if it supports 5.1 but the FIC website shows SPIDF header on the motherboard. The rear out only has connection for L/R speakers.

Does Z-540 supports digital input via SPDIF? If yes, does it come with the cable?

Thanks in advance,
- Vikas

$21- $2 code + $9.95 shipping = $28.95 Quite a hot deal on a set of 4.1 speakers even if they are refurbs.

sontakke, I'm not sure about the 540's ... I have the 640s, so I can't say 100% for sure. Since you don't have the SPDIF cable and back panel, I would recommend forgetting about that approach. You say the rear out only has a Left and Right ??? Do you mean a Line In and Line Out, plus Microphone ? The 640s are purely analog and I simply plug the green jack into the green Line Out jack. A digital connection is not an option you should require with the hardware you have. If you have a special need for digital or the SPDIF then we can work out those details.
