logitech z-5300 .. anything better for the price?

title says it all .. I'm about to order these.
Bear in mind, I'm in Canada.
I won't buy Klipsch, I know they are the best but i can't afford them.

Any other speakers I should be considering in this price range?

Well, you can spend a bit more and get the Logitech Z-680s. These days they're not much more expensive. I have a set on my gaming rig...these speakers are awesome. I've heard great things about the 5300s, but I decided that my gaming rig was not something I was compromising on in other areas, so I decided not to compromise here, either.

MSRP at TigerDirect was $200. I paid another $110 in shipping, but then again, I'm U.S. military stationed overseas, which jacked up the price of shipping. 🙁

Digital Coax/Optical. Will you be watching stuff in surround sound? If you want a small HT get the Z680's/5500's.

the same reason why you need a set of speakers, because he wants one.

not all people in the army live in a cramped up barracks, even overseas.

USPS price goes way up when the weight goes up, and customs is a b!tch also.

My brother just got a set of 5300's and so far has no complaints. Futureshop.ca periodically has a $199 sale (regularly $299). Tiger Direct had a great sale on the 680's recently (I think it was because the 5500's came out and they were clearing stock).

i own a set of the 5300 and they are great
haven't had a chance to hear the 680 and the 5500 but for the price.. 5300 is great... and i got them for 150 from newegg.. guess the price went up..

I got my Z-5300's for $133 on NewEgg. I LOVE THEM! Best speakers I've ever heard for that price.

My friend liked them so much, that after the first time he heard them at my house, he went home and ordered them that same night.

For $200 I'd still say it's a good buy.
