Linko for this laser mouse

Rebate form

I'm told it's the best notebook mouse:

Thread I started today = What's a good mouse for a laptop?

There's another deal going on with this, which is a Logitech thing where through rebate you get a second cheaper item at 1/2 price. The link is down on the page. To quote the linked page which has graphics/links of some of their products:

Buy One Logitech Product, Get the Second for 50% Off

Purchase any two of the Logitech products listed here and get 50% off the lower-priced item after mail-in rebate.

This is a great mouse, and gets pretty good battery life. Takes 1 AA, and I've used it fairly frequently and it's lasted me about 3 months. The Logitech software, if you choose to install it, tells you how much charge is left and estimates the number of days left on the battery..pretty useful

There are 30 user reviews of this at CNET and 87 at Amazon.com. I read most of them yesterday before finally ordering. Pretty sure this will become my day-in-day-out desktop mouse, doubling as my laptop mouse. Probably get another mouse for the laptop some day when Logitech puts out one like this that's Bluetooth. There are a few knocks on this mouse, including the lack of Bluetooth, the location of the switch to toggle scroll wheel from ratcheted to smooth (bottom of mouse), the hard touch on the scroll wheel (i.e. middle) button, another couple of gripes about button positions/ergonomics, the high cost (which this deal more or less does an end run around) but overall the impression is overwhelmingly positive.

I just got it for $45 shipped from newegg after rebate. Good deal! It is an AMAZING mouse. It is far more comfortable than my Microsoft wireless desktop elite mouse even though it is smaller.

I prefer the VX notebook version and use it as my desktop mouse (I don't even have a laptop YET...). Takes 1 AA battery whereas the MX desktop one is hardwired with a non-replaceable battery, or if it is replaceable it is a Logitech only battery and will cost big $$$ to replace. I actually like the small nature of this mouse and I have big hands. Even further I initially didn't like the fact it is right handed and I like to swap hands for my mouse/trackball peripherals. I got used to it as a left handed mouse and actually like it better than using it right handed even though it is molded for right handed use. I can use the back and forth buttons easier left handed than right handed ironically. The zoom feature I don't use and not sure if you need the software to make it functional but I have no need for the software as of yet.

I love logitech products, and this is no exception. BTW the only reason to install the logitech software is to get the battery info and some other oddball button functions. If you just want it to function, PlugAndPlay gives most of the basic functionality (3-clicks, back and forward) without any of the bloat.

I presume you are using it on XP? On the desktop I'm using mine in Windows 2000 and so far the performance has been quite dodgy. So much so, that I only use it now with my laptop. The cursor sometimes behaves very erratically in Windows 2000. I will try uninstalling the software and see if that improves things. I guess it's possible I got a lemon. Have to test things further. I'm never had any trouble with my Logitech MX510 corded optical on Windows 2000 desktop, but I couldn't take to the software and quickly unistalled it.

Can you program the buttons without the software? I'd think not.

Try a different surface. My MX610 is erratic on a Fellowes hard mouse pad, but smooth on a cutting board.

You can program any button on any Logitech (AFAIK) to do anything with uberOptions.

I just came across the MX Revolution for $69.99 ($49.99 after rebate) at tiger. It's a rebate from Logitech I think, so hopefully not too big of a hassle to get it. Purchase by 3/31 and rebate ends 4/30.

I've been needing an excuse to upgrade my mouse. ;)

It's actually a $10 off Promo code on that Newegg page.
The MIR is still just $20.
Their regular price is $20 less than the suggested retail.
All three add up to $50 less than the SRP.
