Logitech speakers - BUDGET

Hi all

I will be researching this as well, but in the mean time and since I value the opinions here, please humour me guys & gals.

I will be buying in the near future a budget set of Logitech speakers. I game & watch movies (is there anything else to do? 🙂) so I want to go with 5.1's.

Which is newer/better, the x530s - the x620s, or the z640s? The x530s are slightly higher priced but I am leaning towards them. I am assuming they are all pretty darn good little budget speakers judging from the reviews - they are all pretty highly praised.

Please don't tell me to get Klipsch unless you plan on paying for them. thanks

well looks like i will try to go with the x530s just based on some initial review reading. but homies, don't let that be my sole influence!! 😉

I have the z640s (Due to price <90 bucks). And they are extremely good. If you match them with a good sound card. Also, They were so good I bought another set to act as a home theater. Great sound, deep bass. There is a little hum when the tv is on quite and the speakers are on loud... but they were 85 bucks 🙂 .

X620s here, which I snagged at Sam's Club for $50. I have them set up as a 5.1 system right now, and I'm more than satisfied for the money. I've had speakers that cost 3x as much not sound as good.

thx Insomniac... the only complaints i can find about the 530s is that the wires are a little short. i don't think that will hurt me as i'n in a corner desk unit in a room that is about 10 x 10 - pretty small.

well so far its: x530s: 2 votes ; the other sets 1 vote each. thanks guys, much appreciated.

i'm in the same boat as you, looking between the 640 or the 530. The only complaint I've read of the 530 is that the bass controls are on the sub, so you have to reach down to change it. Still deciding, probably gonna buy in a week.

my friend just got his x-530s and they're awesome. great sound and no complaints at all, they look pretty cool too.

I have the x530 set and I think they are awesome for the price. They were cheaper than the z640's (which are supposedly discontinued). I'm just using my onboard audio from my motherboard (no separate sound card) and the 5.1 sound is sweet!

bass control is on the sub on the z640s as well maddog. LOL, makes your choice even harder. I don't think you can go wrong either way tho.

since the x series is newer than the z i would assume they sound better.

The Z2200, Z5300,Z5500 are all THX certified, don`t think any of the X series are, also I believe the "X series" are for those on a tighter budget.

Z series cost a lot more because they have higher power output, which basically means they can get louder without distorting. However, I can get my X-620s to the point where it's well past painful before they start to distort, so that extra power would be wasted on me.

And yes, the X series is more of Logitech's "college gamer on a budget" line of speakers...

thanks guys. i guess they will also work for the "broke and in debt graduate with a very money conscious wife gamer" on a budget as well.

oh whoops. damn...gonna have to drop by a store and test it out 🙂

Amazon has the Logitech X-530s for 57.94 - $10 MIR and if you sign up for their credit card you get $30 off instant with free shipping which makes it 17.94 after rebate.

Get the newer x-530s. The dual drivers as opposed as the single driver on the z-640 should make the x-530 sound much clearer on the highs. My cousin owns the 2.1 version of the z-640 and the led light on the speaker is BRIGHT as all hell! Its annoying when you play games and youre being blinded by your speakers, especially in dim lighting!
