Logitech RMA LX700 for an MX700?

I was given an RMA today from Logitech on my MX700 Duo.

They are planning to send me an LX700 mouse for my MX700 mouse. Well, there is no LX700 mouse on their site, so I assume its the LX700 Duo. The mouse that comes with the Duo is the SmartClick Plus with some differences. I'll have to assume they are sending the Duo, because the the separate mouse won't work with my existing keyboard and doesn't have a recharging base. Suppose I should have clarified that but assumed I was getting something comperable.

Anyway, the mouse with the LX Duo looks like a downgrade from my MX700, it doesn't have the up and down scroll keys and frankly looks cheap. I'm I wrong, is this a fair replacement? Should I just shut up and accept this mouse or tell them to keep it?

Let me try the short form:

Is the LXDuo as good as the MXDuo? If not, should I accept the LX as an RMA replacement for the DX?

There.

I don't know about the number of mouse buttons and mouse special features,
but the in terms of gaming performance, the LX700-kit mouse is nowhere as good as the MX700 optical mouse.
The MX700 has the special 800dpi (or 700dpi) -optical sensor.

Its pretty underhanded of them to pass off an inferior substitute, no? Some warranty.

I think I read something about it being because a lot of people were having problems with their MX700s so they were discontinued? I could be wrong.

They are discontinued, that's why they can't send me another. You'd think they'd send me something at least as good and not be such cheap skates.

Just wondering - what's wrong with your MX?

Did you ask them if you could do a payment to get the replacement upgraded to a better mouse or something? (just shooting an idea out)

I won't hold a charge more than two days (and yes, I've tried different batteries and different charger).

Heh, I just put it in the charger every night.

I guess you could return it for that though

Good luck!

damn...i just had the same thing happened to me. RMA'd my duo because the left clicker on my mouse cracked and I have to keep gluing it to keep it together. i would have preferred a refurb mx700.

how has your experience been with the lx700? I may just ebay it when I get it from Logitech and buy a refurb mx700 duo online.

My MX700 isnt as smooth as it used to be, trying to get it to charge can be a pain and keeping a charge is becoming a little problematic at times, sometimes no lasting a day.

It works acceptably so Im not RMA'ing but it scares me to think that if its in warranty, that Id be given what Ive heard, the sub-par LX700 as a replacement.

If Logitech were to offer the MX1000 at a reasonable rate in exchange for my MX700, Id definately be interested.

fyi: logitech allows you to upgrade if you don't like the model you're going to get. you just pay the difference. just put my rma on hold till i figure out what would be a worthy replacement :)

They never offered that to me.

I was in the same situation as the op about six months ago.

I ended up buying an MX1000 mouse, and I put the LX700 reciever in the MX1000 reciever's housing and use them that way.

I really didn't like the LX700 mouse.

Two days? You're RMAing the mouse for THAT?

Unless you use the mouse for two days straight with no interruptions or break, this doesn't appear to be a defect to me. Is it REALLY that difficult to put the mouse on the cradle every night, or do you game 24/7/365?

I have had two MX 700s (first one had no problems but I switched it for a MX1000, then switched back to a new MX700 shortly thereafter) and I have NEVER had problems with either, especially in the battery department.

Maybe you should just charge it more often? Sounds better than getting an LX700, at least to me...

It wasn't offered to me until I called back and said I didn't like the fact that I was getting the lx700 combo after reading a little about it.

nope, its just two generations back now with the mx1000 then the g7:p its just old and obsolete.

as for batteries. with heavy use the batteries do die in 2 days. its just the way it is. its a performance mouse, not a battery sipper which is why its got a charging cradle when even older logitech wireless ball mice got by with AAA's and lasted months on a set....with no charging capability.

if you want some teflon tape for refreshing your old mouse cshyde has cheap teflon tape
