My only thought is why are they re-inventing the wheel? A wireless ethernet bridge would do the job better. I mean, I guess if you do not have a wireless network already this would be cheaper, but still... there are a lot of restrictions.

I like how it doesn't interfer with my existing wireless connection. All these gaming bridges are mostly B which drops your connection from G to B on all connections. The good wireless bridges seem to run about $100.

Hmmm interesting
I;d like to use these on my modded xbox for XBMC.... not sure if this could stream XVID/DVD image flawlessly though. Anyone know?
I don't have wireless right now and where this XBMC box is going gettign wired to it will be a pain in the butt.

Good stuff...
Why dint anyone show them to me two weeks before.
I ended up buying the netgear 4 port wireless ethernet bridge with 2 printer ports.
And that was just to connect my Toshiba DVR to my wireless netwrok.

It cost me $75
Damn...

Anyone try this yet?

I love setups where you don't have configure anything. I had a HomePNA bridge and it was great cuz all you had to do was plug it in.

As long as the connection is good then maybe I'll get it. I assume that 1+ Mbps is good enough for the Xbox 360.

I tried it for the same reason you cite, and I returned it for this simple reason.

A one hour program with low compression quality, ie 350 meg or so, will run just fine. Anything larger that requires more than 1 meg of stable speed will jump and stutter.
A simple episode of Lost, without the 5.1 audio will run fine. But a good copy of Top Gear which checks in around 700 meg for just two channel audio, will not run good on this. I ended up spending about $140 or so to get two wireless access points and running them in bridge mode to get it to work.

Oh, and this was for a Media Center PC. I know I could have just bought a USB Wireless adapter, but I have an XBox and a PS2 on a switch in the same audio rack, and this works better.

Just my two cents worth...

Does a wireless ethernet bridge just take an existing wireless connection and then turn it into a wire connection?

As opposed to this Logitech device that goes wire->wireless->wire.

I didn't know these things existed before haha.

I set up a pair of these for a friend. Good for basic stuff but I wouldn't try to throw any files across that 1.5mb link.

I'm gonna get one, but I just plan on using it to play back music and for Xbox Live. I'll be running Connect360 with my Mac to the Xbox 360 for iTunes. Connect360 doesn't support video playback on the Xbox 360 anyway, just audio and pix.

1.5Mbps kills this deal. Would be warm if it were even 10Mpbs and scorching if it were 100Mbps. Sadly, it isn't. I need something just like this for my XBMC in the living room and my HTPC in a bedroom, but I need more speeeeed!

P.S. I just ordered a refurb off eBhey for just under US$23 shipped. Given the slow speed, I don't think it's worth US$40, but at $23 I figure it's worth a shot.

I hope music streaming from my Mac to the Xbox 360 works fine. It should, considering this Logitech unit probably gets around 600-700 Kbps real-world, and my MP3s/AACs range from 192-256 Kbps.

BTW, the guesstimate of 700 Kbps would apply to both upload and download, so gaming speeds won't be affected at all. Not very many people have upload speeds much faster than 700 Kbps anyway, and really it's ping time that's important for gaming. I don't expect latency for the Logitech to be any worse than 802.11g.

OTOH, game demo download speeds will suck. I can download a 500 MB demo in maybe 15 minutes real-world off Xbox Live to my Xbox 360 over Ethernet. I'm looking at 90 min for a game demo download using the Logitech thing I'm guessing. Maybe I'll just get frustrated and fork out the cash on the real Xbox 360 wireless adapter later when I can find it on sale cheap. Either that or I'll download everything now before I move the Xbox 360 to where it needs wireless. :)
